1k snowball fiasco

edited August 2013 in Poker Chat
noticed this tournament so thought i would pop in and watch a bit, only 62 players in the 1k GUARANTEED each with a bounty on their head of £16.12

yep you guessed it 62 players times £16.12 is £999.44

you cant advertise a tournament with a guaranteed prize pool and then not pay the full amount can you?

i hear you say its only 56p but its still 56p, how do we know this is the first time this has happened?

    I'm lost for words.

A nice juicy overlay of £380, & someone complains the Room has nicked £0.56.

It could only happen in poker.

tikay we both know thats not the point, if this happened on another poker site then people at sky would make out its disgraceful, at the end of the day its false advertisement, overlay could be £600 for all i care, if the tournament has a guaranteed prize pool then sky should meet that, not acceptable!

What else can they do? put another penny on everyones head? - Or advertise it as a £999.46 gtd game?

I thought this was a joke when I first read it, you can't be serious?

    lmao!

I dont know how that tourny works, but from your post Im presuming its a pure bounty hunter type thingy....

you've been bothered to carry out some maths even though you're not in it by multiplying £16.12 by 62.... Ive been bothered doing a little more (bored) and divided £1000 by 62.....

£16.129    :o   shock horror lol think theres better battles to fight, but it made me laugh.. dont think you'd find value like that on any other site tbh

Yes, you are of course quite right.

I hope you will forgive my wry amusement & perhaps frivolous reply. As someone else Posted, I kinda thought "well, I can think of better things to go to war about".

If you contact Customer Care, & complain, I'm sure they will deal with the matter fairly.

How did you get on in the Tourney, anyway? Take many Bounties?

Chels, this is the biggest wind up ever right?

You're sitting there laughing your melons off at us right?

And if you're not, you seriously need to find another hobby or something.

If you really think you're being helpful in any way or that you have an argument which holds any water whatsoever, you're deluded beyond belief.

Oh, and if it was a joke, it wasn't very funny, but each to their own I guess.

Well done Fins, clearly this is an atrocity which needs to be resolved ASAP!
  • edited January 2010

I suggest sky act quickly to avoid a mass bad publicity outburst by announcing a 56p freeroll asap,

as they say on talksoprt...............................WHAT A WASTE OF INK!!!!!
  • edited January 2010
Try dividing 56p into 62 players. Its not possible without going into decimals which is rather pointless. (well actually  there is a decimial point, but you get my point)

If you do divide it it is 0.90322 pence that should be on each head.

75% of this is 0.67415 pence per bounty taken.

So as you can see a huge amount of money considering Sky gave £379.44 to this competition for free, yes free overlay!

So Chels, unless you can propose a way of meeting a 1k prize pool exactly with 62 players without going into redicious decimal calculations then i suggest that you find better things to do...

Or my account will have 450 pounds and 51.5757509895898598958985 pence in it tommorow:)

Merenovice i await the inevitable mathmatical or spelling corrections.

Right, back to 22 deepstack which is a £300.5623553 GTD...

    Lets break this down,,
you thought you would pop in and watch a bit? A casual start,
only62 players in the 1k GUARANTEED. highlighted guaranteed says there is some thing fishy going on!
a bounty on their head of £16.12,, hey hey, im guessing there is a shortfall here!!?
yep you guessed it 62 players times £16.12 is £999.44. Wow,, i was right, there was some quick maths done there!
i hear you say its only 56p. ITS ONLY 56pence!!!!!!!!
but its still 56p. Jeez i thought it had gone up with inflation, the time it took to type this?
Well, from all the other replies chels, i think you got the picture, no-one else is worried about 56p, its hardly worth the time spent typing to complain. BUT, thanks anyway, weve had a lot of fun from this and, ive posted my first ever sarcastic/amusing (maybe) post.

  • edited January 2010
Shocking...Sky should arrange a 56p Freeroll for all of those that took part :-)
  • edited January 2010
    £380 overlay + 56p shortage + complaint = PIFFLE

    Get Real!!!!!!

This reminds me of when we owned some shops. I called in to one shop and a staff member was having a heated conversation with a customer. The customer was complaining that the packs of bacon were too large and that we had changed them to try to extort more money from our customers. The member of staff tried to explain that the packs were actually double the size, in fact it was two packs joined together because it was buy one get one free, and that she was getting twice as much for the normal price. After listening to this for a few minutes I took the scissors from behind the counter and cut through the joint in the two packs. I gave one to the customer who paid for it and left the shop with a big smile on her face. I took the other pack home and had a free bacon lunch. You just can't fathom it!
