Just out of interest why such a short period between announcement and the start of the series? Thought there would have been more time for sats etc.

    Will all events be televised?

  • edited October 2011
As i said last night on the live show, I will buy in to a couple and try to satellite into the £500 buy in and Main event. I think it will allow us all to cut our teeth against players who join up to play these events, whilst still keeping our beloved tourneys for the rest of the year. Sky Poker UKOPS will be  a massive success, as long as the advertising is nationwide on Sky Sports. I think this could be a great event and I'm gripped by excitement and anticipation. Lets hope the Mighty Team51 can win a couple and Crown ourselves the UKOPS Champions!

Ok, missed the show but would like to know the ins and outs of this please. Is it just for the high BR players who can just choose if THEY want to play or not or is it really open to all?? I fully appreciate Sky Poker introducing new schemes but feel, yet again, that this promotion is geared towards the high rollers. I know, and expect, a load of negative response to this post, but as a prominent campaigner for the smaller BR player, I would like to know if this is really 'across the board' for ALL players or just another cunningly disguised thank you from Sky Poker to all their 'bigger' players?

I would imagine if this one week promotion stirs up enough interest and traffic for the site it can only increase the spend Sky Poker have for the lower bankroll promotions in the long term.

Hats off to the Sky team who've done a great job of keeping this a secret till now. I found out about it about 3 hours before transmission last night! Apparently it had been ready to go for a while but just awaiting the final nod and once that was given it was all-hands to the deck for an all-out promotional blitz.

I think this series will have two effects...

    (1) Attract a lot of new players

    (2) Elevate Sky Poker's online credibilty even further (remember we've already established ourselves as a major player on the UK live circuit now via the Sky Poker Tour). The website and channel is now at a level where we can really shout about it and what better way to get ourselves major exposure than by putting on a festival?

Obviously it's great news for all Sky Poker players. If it's a big success it means more players, more money on the site and bigger games.

There is no priority being given to the so-called 'high rollers'. Although they are more likely to be able to buy-in direct to the more expensive tournaments than the majority of our players, they won't be getting comped in- the guarantees are way too big!

As for everyone else, thanks to the wonderful invention that is the satellite tournament- they'll be plenty of opportunities for you all to land a seat in one of the biggies.

    Gonna be mahoosive, this!

Couldn't agree more, Aaron. Attract the big players and you'll have a trickle down benefit for everyone.

My comments are really an amalgum of the posts so far.

I'm pleased for sky and for the festival of poker that's upcoming, more traffic is good for us all.

I too am primarily a low steaks player and will try to sat in.

The real icing on the cake and something that would make this a real event for everyone would be a scaled down mini festival, same times, same events, same scale of guarantee/fee ratio then every sky customer could feel involved and celebrate the festival, rather than having to settle for watching the big boys play. This is an opportunity to make EVERYONE happy and happy customers tell their friends and spend their money.

One final thought, have you considered for the main event freezing the game when you get down to the last 6 and inviting them to play live in a studio/dtd etc a week later, not the november 9, but the "SKY 6", just a thought and it would make great TV.

As for Channel 865's coverage- we'll be all over it in the build-up and during the series itself. Look out for dedicated sections of the show where we feature hands from the previous night's satellites, bring you up-to-speed with the list of qualifiers for the big events and speak to players who've made it every time we go live.

As for the live shows when the series is actually on- oh my, we'll go UKOPS crazy with full live coverage of all the action. Can't wait for that main event show where the guarantee is £50,000 on Sunday night- it's gonna be emotional!

Just looked at the events on here: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=55298.0 And won't the high roller have a very late finish if it starts at 8pm? with a 10,000 chips starting stack and 15 min clock? Im sure the blind structure will be a bit differnt to the normal rollers, but just looks long!
    Posted by salad24

Hi Salad, yes- I've seen the estimated times that these tournaments are due to finish and most of them clock in at around 1am-3am.

But a 15 min structure and a huge starting stack is what you'd demand for a £500 buy-in and since most people work during the week, you couldn't possibly start it before 8pm.

Most players will drop out at a reasonable hour of the evening anyway, but if you do happen to go all the way TWO things will result of it.

    (1) You'll have a reduced amount of sleep that night, if you have to get up for work in the morning.

    (2) You won't care because you'll have just won at least £8,000-£10,000 tax-free.

    ;-)

    Top banana idea IMO!!!!

Would it be possible to organise a mini UKOPS (MUKOPS) at 10% buy in? (based on Maxxys idea of a mini version of the main.. re 10% BI, same blinds etc).

I know it's 11th hour but hey, if anyone can make it work Sky can ;o))

    xx

Some great ideas coming in which I know will be listened to and incorporated if poss.

Btw- for those who didn't see the show last night and are wondering how the series is pronounced it's 'You Cops' rather than 'U.K. Ops'
  • edited October 2011
really need to implement H4H when its on the bubble for this series imo, 30s per player of timebanking every hand  is going to be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo frustrating. (obv i will have bustoed long before so doesnt affect me too much). also it will delay the tourney by quite a while so that you might not catch the end of it on the TV show!
  • edited October 2011
Yeah a time bank is a better option but I suppose that would take alot more work and wouldn't be completed in time for this festival.

With skys reputation rising, and more money becoming available, hopefully they'll be able to get some good presenters in soon. Joking of course !
Love the idea of UKOPS, not so keen on the massive time bar, going to be pretty annoying near the bubble !
  • edited October 2011
its not so much a massive time bar its maximum 30seconds which is only 10-15 seconds longer than usual.... but if H4H is brought in for the series this doesn't matter about the time bank stalling as H4H completely takes all stalling out they are really just wasting their own time then but obviously if there is no H4H brought in, in time then it will result in waiting 10-15seconds longer than usual but then aren't those really the guys you want to punish the ones stalling on the bubble as you know they are not wanting to play a single hand :)

think they had H4H in the last tsp playoff. defo a must in this series.
  • edited October 2011
Yes, they are all 6 handed and as Hursty pointed out regarding H4H above, that should not be a problem I would imagine!

I reckon this series looks awesome and shows how far Sky Poker has come and long may it continue!

"The Sky Poker UKOPS is all 6-Mac, though. Apparently, it's wot the kidz do."

Hi Guys - just to reassure everyone, we will be running satellites to these events to suit all pockets. There will also be some added extras which we will give the details on soon. Tikay will naturally claim all the ideas were his! Thanks Sky Poker Team
