UKOPS1 huge success in terms of entrants, and the few quid Sky overlaid in the initial satellites was certainly repaid, and then some. Such a shame that Sky didn't seize the bull by the horns and commit properly to this event by putting it on TV live.
First rule of marketing - never go at anything half-heartedly.

One thing an Online Poker room never lacks is advice from players, but I don't suppose you'd like to hazard a guess at the cost of Live TV for a single night, would you Graham?
Message for Tikay Understand its very expensive for a ukops event to be live on tv but what about just getting a simple thread going updating all on leaders, action etc Posted by Pavillion
Dunno how experienced you are with online poker sites, and this might be stating the obvious...
But you know you can open the tournament lobby, and individual tables with your favourite playvers on and watch the leaderboard progress throughout the tourny? It's constantly updated automatically....
It's much better than a thread, you can pick and choose who you wanna watch etc.
I had the lobby & 2 tables open between 8-11pm last night, and I wasn't in the tournament.

Noted, Mr Pavilion, & I'll see if I can get someone to do an Update Thread.
Some of the regulars do them now & then - Squawky, for example - but the threads get very little feedback, so are a bit soul-destroying to do, as they take a lot of time & effort. I do them sometimes, but it's tough to play the Event AND do the Update Thread, & still do justice to both.
Dohh makes a fair point, too.
Little aside for you now.
Squawky - "hawk7112", aka Dave, who is a golfer by trade, did lots & lots of Live Update threads, a thankless task, & he did them without ever being asked to.
So, eventually, I sent him a free entry to a nice Omaha Event, by way of thanks - & he only went & won the Event! How nice is that, eh?
HI TIKAY there are no sats for UKOPS today? will you run ME sat this week or just on Sunday? DAI PS great work on the weekend old man and enjoy your time over the pond. Posted by DAIBOOT
The Daily Satellites are not put into the Lobby until mid-morning, so they will be there soon, I imagine.
Daily ME Sats? The whole satellite schedule is being micro-managed on a daily basis, so I'm not sure what the answer to that is yet.
The weekend? Thank you. Must be honest, can't wait for next Monday to come - 6 more sleeps! - before I head off to Vegas for a bit of a break.

Is there any way to find the full result of a tourney from the previous day (or even earlier) if one didn't qctually play in it? ie. last night's UKOPS?

I'm sure there is a quicker/better/easier wsay, but I simply look it up on Sharkscope. Costs me like £30 for 3 months subscription, outstanding value.
GaryQQ also does a Tourney Results thread on the Community, which is also very useful.

I'm sure it's not cheap, Tikay. However, if Sky is running this as the UK online poker Series, I'd have thought they'd really go at it. If they could show the velocity on a Tuesday night 4 years ago, a tournament with a 33,000 prize pool might squeak into the schedule. Don't get me wrong - really pleased that Sky not only made the GTD, but got 129 people over that. Everyone must be hugely satisfied.

I think that the reason why Sky used to have such extensive TV coverage back then was because it was a new site and wanted to attract new players.
Now Sky is probably the 2nd biggest player in the UK poker market and doesn't need to attract new players so much.
But yeah excellent event, even if I didn't get to last that long
I think that this proves the popularity of the BHs by the way it totally smashed its guarantee...got like 175% of the runners it needed...a monthly 100£BH tournie perhaps?!

Scotty makes the point about Bounty Hunters, which many "serious" players tend to be quite sniffy, & snobbish, about.
Fact is, Sky Poker's biggest regular scheduled Tourney is the £110 Sky Roller. It has never exceeded 72 runners, to my recollection. Last night's £110 BH attracted 329 runners, & the Main Event, a £22 BH, broke all records for a Monday BH, & got 545 runners.
TV coverage in years gone by? It's simply down to cost. 3 years ago, the Channel ran 7 "Live" Shows per week. There is no way on God's earth that can be justified any longer, & 3 nights "Live" per week is as good as it is gonna get as far as I can judge. It's a job, in truth, to financially justify even that, even though 865 spend has been slashed by about 80%, but every year it HAS to be justified to the Suits, as it's a whole lot of money, & quite a meaningful % of the overall promotional spend.
The promotional spend increases every year, in line with the eye-watering growth of the site, but the same question is asked continually. If that money spent on 865 could be saved, it would NOT be removed from the spend, but it would be used for other promotional initiatives. Would they be more cost-effective? They might.....the channel cost comes to a huge sum, which could buy a LOT of prime-time advertising, Freerolls, SPT stuff, site development, better C4P, all sorts of stuff.
The suggestion that lack of UKOPS Live TV Coverage correlates to a lack of committment staggers me, to be honest. Sticking those whopping UKOPS Guarantees on suggests quite a degree of committment in itself, imo...... I'd add that there must have been a 100 or more internal Meetings to plan, set up, & organise UKOPS. No commitment? Have to disagree with that.
