Is it time to increase Sky Poker's Main Event guarantees? Poll

edited November 2011 in Poker Chat
Not sure  how much difference it will make.

But they all seem to be smashing the guarantee at the moment

    While posting updates on the tournaments results thread lately I've noticed that the evening Main Events have been consistantly exceeding their guarantees by quite a wide margin.

    For example here are last nights figures;

    Sky Sports Bounty Hunter; guarantee £12,000, actual prize pool £15,930, 132% of guarantee

    Sky Roller; guarantee £5,000, actual prize pool £7,200, 144% of guarantee

    In my opinion the time has come to increase the guarantees. We all know that bigger guarantees always attract bigger fields.

    I think this time of year higher traffic is gtd so imo increasing the guarantees will boost it up even more.I mean just look at the UKOPS with the very large buy-ins.

    You know what 12 months ago, Pokertrev and I think it was Born a Blade ran 2 different deepstack leagues, before DTD was around....

    It was a £5 league and a £2 league......

    It was hugely popular, and smashed the gtd PP everytime, I played it 1 night....

    Next morning I suggested the gtd PP be increased in aknowledgement of the success of the tourny. I did this on their thread on the forum....

    I got absolutely slaughtered from most on the thread, and by 6 different people via PM...

    Saying "stop trying to ruin our league if the gtd PP is bigger it will attract more donks who will call everything and not respect anyones raises and it will ruin the tournaments"

    You can't make it up !!!!!

    i remember when the open was gar 10k for a 10 quid buy in now you have to pay 20quid or more to win less these days. Used to play main event every night now i cant remember the last time i played a main too expensive for me. + it was televised every night live which added to the fun and attraction.

    yeah totally agree. Shame they can't have just 1 televised tourney that's not such a big buy-in! Or even just show highlights, could be the one of the DTD events or bits of each or anything, but would be nice to be able to get some tv time without having to pay £20-£50 for the priviledge as it's way out of my bankroll for an MTT

    It looks like the increased guarantees are doing the job, there was a bumper field of 610 in last nights ME, up from 548 in the same tournament last week.
