UKOPS was so much fun that we had to bring it back, right?

Today sees the launch of 'UKOPS Xmas' which we're thinking of as a festive UKOPS over the Xmas and New Year period. Four days, four events and £100,000 in guarantees! As Daniel Negreanu might say, "yum yum!"

    So, here come the details...

  • edited November 2011

    Oh, but there's more...
  • edited November 2011
Of course, there's a natural question which could be asked: 'why less events?'

Easy - this is UKOPS Xmas, which is basically something of a festive pressie from the people at Sky Poker. It's going to be a busy time for poker players, what with all the repeats of Only Fools and Horses and The Snowman, so we wanted to make sure you were all kept company through the festive period by some bumper tourneys.

Our intention with the 'full-blown' UKOPS as I am calling it in the office is the same. What is that? Well we can't tell you everything but expect some news on that in first few weeks of January....

*nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more...*

the side events look great.  fantastic stuff sky

    will the rebuys be raked?
  • edited November 2011
    Ah yes, Satellites....

The eagle-eyed of you will notice there are indeed satellites already up in the Tournament Lobby. All of those are currently feeding in to the Main Event on Friday 30th.

What about the others? There WILL be satellites in to those too a little nearer the time, too. We'll post details on those as and when they're launched, but you'll have around two weeks to satellite in to the other three events as well.

    Summary:

    Main Event Satellites - gogogogogogogogo!
Other Satellites - hold up a bit, then gogogogogogogogo!!

The answer to that is 'unlikely' - I'll need to get that double-triple checked for you, but I'd be VERY surprised if they are....

Yes, this time around. An Omaha AND Omaha Hi-Lo tournament were considered but we wanted to get as many of the most popular formats in for what we're hoping will be a fun-filled series. They (well, Omaha for sure) will be back in the next 'Big UKOPS'....

Will the sats for say the Deepstack run on the same equivalent day like before? ie on all Wednesdays before it runs on the 28th Dec? If so, can/will they start this Wednesday (16th Nov)? last question (for now), Will that B/H include that extra 56p in the GTD prize pool?
  • edited November 2011

    Passed with flying colours!!!

Deffo making my UKOPS debut this time, if I've got any br left . . . . .

No speed/velo/turbo tournys as side events tho? Good opportunity to re-introduce the big(er) velocity!
  • edited November 2011
So SKY decide to put on a massive TWO PLO games..... then schedule them at the SAME TIME on the SAME NIGHT!!!!!
    Congratulations!!!!!

Not content with a distinct lack of decent Buy-in PLO bames on the site already you then find even more ways to keep me away from here for my PLO games.

    Keep up the good work.

    Hi Greekway,

If you're after something with a smaller buy-in hopefully some of those side events will appeal. Also, the last UKOPS had a community-run Mini UKOPS in the week before. While I am not sure if that would happen again, it's definitely something to keep an eye out for.

    Agree

Im taking the WCOOP and SCOOP as an example here. adding the Xmas to the end just doesnt make much sense to me. And out of curiousity isnt calling an event after a Christian Holiday sectarian? Or at least that was my understanding to why we have to say "happy holidays" now.

suggests UKONYPS (UK online new years poker series) this way avoiding any major issues with the name. I know the abreviation doesnt exactly look good btw.

    Hey Dave.

    Thanks for the reply.

Why there are not any 5quid buy-in events? Anyone can play two of them and have better chances of winning instead of playing a single 11 buy-in.

Is there going to be an announcement for the Mini UKOPS?

the mini UKOPs was run buy the forum it was called FLOPS (forum low stakes online poker series) as was mostly for fun. Its just regular sky tournys that run the week beforewith similar events.

FWIW i really liked the idea but would have been nice if sky made and actual tourny for it with a reasonable GTE. Although now im living in a pipe dream

You can play £5 events whenever you want what difference does it make if its branded UKOPS or not?

Bigger guaranteed prizepool definitely. You can play also some 11 and 22 event in Skypoker. Why are there are some in the side events and not a 5er event?

the people that are willing to stump up £110 for a MTT arent interested in playing in a £5 tourn.

There's the mini event that shadows the main everyday which has a decent gte compared the the buy in
  • edited November 2011
a £5 event branded UKOPs would attract a much bigger field therefore much bigger prizepool. That alone is a major +EV thing.

i think if sky created tournaments named FLOPs for the FLOPs the event would have been huge they make more money, we play more and enjoy etc. Ofc a large number of us includign myselff would play either way. But i think people who dont come onto the forums would be more likley to play.
