When/How to turn the scre w (WTF can't say s crew??) mid way through an MTT. I seem to bust every tourney 1.5 hours in at the moment trying to get a stack up for latter stages.

Getting the best out of your pc with regards to the set up of it to play on line poker. More of a technical subject,  I know, but I hope a few players would benefit from some tuition in this field.

Value betting with a marginal hand for value at the right times.

Following my SPT debut, I think I need to understand or be more aware of how to transfer your online game to live poker with 'real' people.

A bit like playing golf for the first time, I found there's a few subtle rules and standard etiquette that I inadvertently stumbled across, couldn't believe how many 'daft' mistakes I actually made, which in turn put me off my own game.

I guess a lot of it's down to experience and thankfully I came across people like Beaneh and Curlarge who put me right without taking too many of my chips in one go!

I think that with the continued success of the SPT, live poker should be covered more in depth.

how to get a big stack early on........

i always seem to be on average stack, then end up in shove mode with 10/15bb,double up and push on or go out in a race.

i suppose i know the answer is to loosen up,but at what stage?

    Omaha.

Don't do all of the above only about NLH.Please do the same and more for PLO.
  • edited November 2011
Played short stacked (the later stages of an MTT when most have 10-20BBs)

    Heads up play

Omaha strategy (although Tikay has already started a thread on this)

Taking notes on players - something I really struggle with, knowing what to write, what's too much detail and what's useless info, easy way to make quick decisions like Dohhhhh once said to me when I was playing 4NL, if someone open limps mark them down as Loose Passive straight away and wait for them to prove you wrong before changing it.

I am in the top ten of both the main and mini with a shot at the jackpot.  Do i tighten up? loosen up? continue to nick blinds in position?  Go all in with raggy ace when TommyD opens for the umpteenth time in a row?

How to deal with the live game particularly involving antes in your play and calculations
  • edited November 2011
Tips for 3betting in position either light or with proper hands and then how to play flops, which ones to cbet how much to cbet if you've hit or not and then what to do on various turns if you don't improve/do improve and also on rivers if it gets that far.

Also normal cbets, when you've been raised and called (IP or OOP), what boards should you cbet 100% and what ones is it just bad to, also cbetting OOP, player to act behind 1-2, is it worth it and do boards need to be more advantagous to do so, how often to barrel turn and what cards to barrel (both IP and OOP), also taking free cards to hit draw good or better to bet with draw, then if called twice reasons to fire 3rd barrel against reasons to check behind and give up.

Also this all applies to cash but similar discussion in how it plays out in a tourney with much shorter stacks would be helpful like how short can you be to 3bet shove over one raise and things like how many blinds do you need to raise fold late in MTTs.

Table positions 6max & 10 Seaters "The Basics"

    Table positions 6max & 10 Seaters "Advanced"

Covering everything from the meaning of table positions "UTG" etc to advance betting using table positions

Its surprising how many players haven't got a clue what it means and how to use it.

a check list of abbreviations some of us older players don't understand most of them when in chat and have to write long hand,by the time ive got it down 3 hands have gone. i know some like tbh and tbf. but ctbn (nice girl) used the abbreviation BJ i think she was tryed to help me but haven't a clue what it means, so a list would be great.

I think something along the lines of cash guidance for the mid stakes. Theres dohhs advice on nl4 and this i guess can be used for nl8 and 10 but making the transition to nl20/50 is alot harder.

Maybe someone starting a thread who grinds it and posting up hands etc to have the community comment and create a portfolio of tips and advice.

    Just a thought.
