Thanks for the supporting post Tikay - in support of all the teams.

I don't get to play live very often these days, in fact I don't play much full stop just lately. If I did play live and had other players thinking I'm a muppet for wearing a team shirt then so much the better. Them thinking I'm good or bad doesn't matter, what matters is beating them and if they think I'm below par that is to MY advantage not theirs.

The whole ethos of the teams is to combine players of all skill levels, to help whenever possible with raising the game of all members, and to give support to all. Teams aren't everyone's cup of tea, but please respect those who enjoy being in a team, as I hope we respect those who don't wish to be a part of it.

In Response to Re: The "Sky Joker":
I replied to the OP last night, after I finished the Live Show, & did not have time to address the somewhat acerbic & sour criticism of the Community team ethic. Personally, I am a little busy to get too involved in the Teams, but that's not to say I do not think they are a splendid part of our Site, & VERY important - I don't know any other Site that does this, & I'm immensely proud when I see all the Team stuff. Each Team seems to have their own Website, &/or Facebook Page, too. I don't get access to these EXCEPT to Team 51, who kindly allow me Members privileges, so I see what they get up to. It's a thing of beauty. They help each other along, have a "Railing Plan", (PRO - Professional Railing Organisation!), organise teach-ins, educate each other with tips, articles, & stuff, keep a Leaderboard of cashes, have Team-based evenings, support Sky Poker players - be they Team 51 or not - who are unwell, ill, or enduring bad times. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine ALL the Sky Poker based Teams do similar things. And if they are proud enough to wear Team gear at SPT's, good luck to them, who are anyone else to mock? What's not to like? If people want to be sour & diss that, well too bad. Each to their own, & let's have a bit of respect for others, eh?

I agree with all of this,
but the OP was about the view of Sky poker players OUTSIDE of the Sky community.

If people don't care what others think, then this whole thread is pointless...

Quote your opening post on this charles / flashflush >>>

"  Saying you are in a team called "Team Knight Plop" etc etc isn't going to help your credibility. "

Charles it seems on the above you are all over the place , plesae clarify to the core of the teams community ,
are you now saying this original statement of yours
is being retracted by you or does it stand ?

In Response to Re: The "Sky Joker":
How about Sky Poker players agree to make a 2012 New Year's Resolution: "In 2012, Sky Poker players of all levels will go out and smash up tournaments up and down the UK. GUKPTs, local casino tourneys, even the game against your family at the kitchen table." Stick it in their eye, I say.

why do you care if they criticise/look down on you? normally the people who say things like that aren't good anyway so you should be happy to play against them!

i wish the standard on sky was as bad as they said though...

In Response to Re: The "Sky Joker" : Your all forgetting this sentence. I'm not slagging off the teams as a whole. They are good for the forum/competitiveness, my point is if you want to get credibility outside of Sky then it just won't happen. If you want to just have fun and make friends they are perfect, but that is not what the OP is all about...

Well i've let the post run a bit so I can get a good take on peoples views.

My original post was regarding the reputaion of "Sky" Poker Players and NOT the teams as such. Most of the comments I hear at SPT Events are regarding Sky Online Players and tbh i've not heard much negativity regarding the "Teams".

My perseption of the local live players that play at these casinos is, that they have little respect for "Sky Poker Players" and belittle us at every opportunity at the tables. Maybe it's just "Online Players" as a whole they don't respect, but the impression I got was that it was directed at "Sky Poker Players" as a whole.

I beleive, if a Team can form a good player reputation online, then there is no reason why this can't also be the case at Live Events.

I will take onboard Tikays comments in the fact that maybe, just maybe, we are becoming a threat and thats why the comments are directed as they are. So at the next SPT I will try to use their negative comments to my advantage and take it as a compliment and take every opportunity I can to raise the reputation of "Sky Poker Players.

Thank you to everyone who has posted their comments on this thread, "Positive or Negative" we are after all entitled to have our own opinions and thats one of the things I like most about this forum and community.

First up, well done to Scotty, for running 2nd @ The Vic GUKPT Fessie in the 6 max, & scooping £5,400. These Sky Poker players are useless, eh?

YB gets it right too - what does it matter what others think? And yes, what a shame the standard is not as bad as some peeps try to make out.

You really could not make up the stupidity of some people in poker. "All the Sky Poker players are rubbish", da de da. If they were that bad, Mr Eejit, why not come here & take all our money? It's that simple.

Growing pains is the answer. We are growing rapidly, & our players are growing with us, & the jealousy has begun.

    All good.

I just need to place in context the Post I made in defence of the Teams......

At the time, there was an extremely sour & rude Post in the Thread from some sad soul who was berating all things Sky Poker, & all the Team Ethic. Everything, in fact. "You are all pathetic, long live 'Stars" he said.

Well yes, long live 'Stars, no problem with that, but not quite sure why he was so sad that he needed to waste his precious time insulting all & sundry here, though he admitted to being a losing player, so at least he saved a few bob whilst venting his wrath.

However, the Post was later removed by the Mods, & quite right too, so my response now appears out of context.

Anyway, I don't regret stating my views.

Live & let live, let's just enjoy our poker.

    Hsve a great weekend.

You should try playing in Leeds

Sky have an office in Leeds and plenty of Sky Poker staff play live in Leeds

Most weekends one of the Sky players wins or cashes in these live games

In Leeds the locals fully respect Sky Poker staff and players!!

My humble opinion is that the performance of Sky players in live tournaments speaks for itself!
Long may opponents berate Sky players ability and by the same token long may Sky players exploit their ignorance!
I agree totally with Tikay's comments! All the players i've met on here have ability infused with passion.
    Sticks and Stones etc.
But roll on a an intersite tourney! Cos I know which site i'd be backing with the bookies to take it down!!!!!!!

Out of respect I have removed the same post from one of my quotes.  Personally I think your views are bang on here Tikay.

I haven't commented on the Teams debate this thread has sidetracked on.  My opinion is teams are great for the site and for the people who join them.  At the SPTs I've had a night on the fizzy drinks with both TKP and Hit Squad and they've been cracking nights.  I've seen how much all the teams help each other and think it's great.  Teams are not for me personally, I do not intend to ever join one, but that's just my own personal mindset, this takes nothing away from my respect for all the Teams on SkyPoker which is deep and heartfelt.

Back to the original debate, as you might be able to tell from my posts I have become somewhat jaded with live poker.  I used to enjoy playing regularly live but now the only live events I look forward to are SPTs.  I hope and expect I will get the love back for live poker some day, but I've just been on such a downswing of awful table company and attempted nips that I think to myself 'why bother playing live when it's much more enjoyable and easier online?'  However I do not want to deter anyone from playing live, it has been for me and can be for anyone an exceptional  experience, I've just got a little old and cranky.
