Just watched on the rail for a bit and have to say the number of times you were done on the turn or river was crazy
Did you feel like you could play ABC Poker optimally or was it a bit of a rush around? I had 4 windows open and it wasn't all that easy to keep up let alone play.

Thanks for your support and comments Dave. Appreciate it.
Yes, my first ever multi-table high-end cash session has finished after almost 2 hours and it was, er, hectic to say the least.
In a nutshell- I lost Sky Poker a ton of money! I have to say rather sheepishly, perhaps 4 buy-ins in 90 minutes. Why? Obviously because I was done in on the river by some ridiculous one-two-three outers.
But hey, I'm not bitter and will eventually get over it, in about 2 or 3 weeks' time... ;-)
To be fair though, I also didn't feel like I played optimally on every table in the more run-of-the-mill hands.
Regarding the multi-tabling, I enjoyed it and I'm determined to crack it, but I'm realistic- I'm trying to run before I can walk. I can handle myself on this level of cash table (as proven earlier in the week), but 4 tables is a bit too intense for me. Call it old age, if you will!
I think I can eventually get there, but I'll build up one table at a time.
Having had a winning streak on one table these past few days, followed by being totally owned in short order on 4 tables, I think the sensible thing to do for the next section of my Play The Presenter night tonight is to open up TWO tables and play with my own money.
That should keep be focussed and get me one step closer to properly grinding multiple cash tables at dizzying levels like the big boys!
After a huge eight hour cash session I finish on a high note- recovering all my earlier losses this evenign on Mastercash 11.
Thanks to the railer and well-wishers tonight and no doubt I will see you back on the table tomorrow- yes, I am hopelessly addicted again and loving playing cash right now!
How do you adjust your opening range based on the number of players at the table? Is position more important in a full ring game? Do you have the patience to play ten-handed poker?
On Monday evening, I'll start off playing a couple of ten-handed tables. If it goes well (unlikely), I'll stick to that format. If it's a disaster (likely) or I get incredibly bored (even more likely), I'll switch to six-max. One thing's for sure - I need to find my inner nit and start using the fold button more frequently!
Enjoying this little 'series' James from you both. I know you've mentioned it a bit on Master Cash for example but is there a plan to have any time on the shows to discuss everything you've done (maybe even a 30 minute slot/show?) or will all the detailed stuff be more for the lurkers on this forum than anything else?
I like the sound of it, Dunmisdosh! If James is up for it I propose we give it a go in February. James is away in January. That said, he could wimp out yet because he's scared! ;-) Right, I've been playing non-stop these past few weeks and I'm back on the tables right now! I'm doing Play The Presenter tomorro night 7pm-midnight (Tuesday) and Wednesday investigating the new action tables as well as 6 max v 10 max. But right now I'm on the 50p/£1 tables under my own personal alias ricorford. Come and play me, if you dare! Posted by RICHORFORD
Scared? I actually find losing money at the poker table quite therapeutic...
Anyways, greetings from Finland!
Quick reminder that I'm giving ten-handed tables a go this evening. I'll be playing two at a time - from 7pm. As I'm on location, and using my laptop, I'll be on Mini View, so please don't be offended if I don't engage you in conversation.
FIREBALL XL5 WILL START WHEN HE SAY,S SO :):)HA,HA,HA, I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A CASH GAME,WOULD NOT NO HOW TO :):) GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL ANYWAY BUT LOUSE ,xxx
Well, it probably won't surprise you to hear that I'm losing money!
However...
Most of those losses have come from cold deck / auto-pilot poker situations.
That's not to say I've played every hand optimally. There are definitely spots where I've spewed unnecessarily. Plus, I think I'm playing too passively (even for a full ring game).
So, taking all that into account, I'm going to stick with my two 50nl tables (Gravesend and Kirkstall), learn from my mistakes and (hopefully) reduce my losses.
It's not going well... With the exception of a flip I won against hurst05 (QQ />AK), variance is NOT being my friend this evening :-( Posted by J-Hartigan
So, I managed to do a fair few quid this evening at the 50nl tables...
But I think I managed to steady the ship during the last 90 minutes, as I found a distraction (in the shape of a mediocre Uma Thurman comedy called 'The Accidental Husband' on Finnish TV).
Over the last few weeks, I've identified a serious flaw in my approach to cash games: impatience. I want to be at the heart of the action, I don't like folding, I enjoy playing lots of hands and seeing lots of flops. In other words, I call too many raises and play too many hands from out of position. End result = I lose money.
This was a big enough problem at the six-max tables, so you can imagine how I struggled to adjust to a full ring game. I ended up playing ridiculously tight (to the point where a couple of pre-flop raises actually got through!), but still found myself in some tough spots. For example, how often should you be playing marginal hands (small suited connecters, medium pairs, etc.) in early position? Should you be raising with these hands or just calling?
As previously mentioned, I found myself in a few cold deck situations. But I can't, in all honesty, say I otherwise played well. I found the pace of the ten-handed table too slow for my liking. I didn't get to see enough hands. I think it's fair to say the majority of cash players on Sky Poker feel the same way, as there weren't many ten-handed tables running.
So, next week, it's back to six-max - mainly the new 'Action' and 'Deep' tables. Who knows? The heads-up tables may also get a look-in. Crucially, I will find a distraction (either a movie or an NFL game), so that I don't feel the need to limp/call with J8s from UTG+1 ;-)
OK- the baton has been passed all the way from Finland back to the UK as James takes a back seat and I step up to the plate for two nights in a row of Play The Presenter.
I'll be on the cash tables tonight (Tuesday) and tomorrow night (Wednesday) from 7pm till midnight- attempting to get to grips with 10 seater tables.
Gave it a bit of a go yesterday on 25p/50p and turned a small profit. I enjoyed it but it requires the patience of a saint!
The answer has to be to open up two tables so I'm involved in more action.
Also, I'm going to have to tighten up my opening hand range with so many more opponents.
Hopefully see you all later at 7 and don't forget to post your cash experiences on this thread over the next couple of nights!
I'm sat on a full ring 10 seater table 25p/50p right now- Kirkstall with £50
And I've opened up a second 25p/50p 10 seater table- Gravesend.
Come and play me if you fancy it.
I'm going to spend the next couple of hours multi-tabling on these full-ring games and seeing how it suits. I know it didn't float James' boat, but who knows? One's man meat is another man's poison etc.
Up to £65 on one table and sitting pretty on around £50 on the other. That is, I WAS, until I came up against pocket kings v my AK on K-3-3 board.
So I'm a buy-in down now on that table but dusting myself down, reloading and cracking on!
It does require a lot more patience and discipline on the 10 seaters but I don't mind that- especially if I'm multi-tabling because I don't get bored and start playing overly loose.
I think this shows overall that, for better or for worse, I'm a tighter player than James!
