The Twenny-Pence DYM trial blog...
So having played a variety of games on SkyPoker over the past few months, with varying degrees of failure (more than winning) I think I have found my game in the DYM's...
So to keep a record I have decided to blog my progress on building a bank roll in DYM's...
Starting from Today (well yesterday really 7th Dec 2011):
Played 4 games at mixed stakes with 3 wins and a final loss.
Starting funds were £5.00 deposited.
Game 1 - (7/12/11 - 22.18) - DYM £2.25 entry stake - Win - Profit = £1.75
Game 2 - (7/12/11 - 22.39) - DYM £1.15 entry stake - Win - Profit = £0.85
Game 3 - (7/12/11 - 23.23) - DYM £3.30 entry stake - Win - Profit = £2.70
Game 4 - (8/12/11 - 00.03) - DYM £2.25 entry stake - Lost - Loss = -£2.25
Total Profit on session = £3.05
Current Bank = £8.05 (£8.12 actually as had 7p left over before deposited starting cash)
So a decent start to begin with..
Will attempt to play a few games each night when possible (and try to stay out of playing the MTTs for a while)
Lets see if I can get up to a decent Bank Roll and even improve my game play a little more..
Please feel free to do any of the following:
1) Join me in a game
2) Comment on the blog
3) Offer any tips or advice
4) Don't blame me for that lucky River Card that lets me double up from short stack!
5) Say hello
Hope you enjoy the ride with me..
Regards
Twenny P

1. Not playing you with that starting record your obv not value
2. The blog is a good way of focusing the mind, as you know if you do something stupid like blow your roll one drunken evening, you have to come onto ths forum and admit your a daftie.
3. If your playing at £2.25, stay away from Dudeskins tables as he is on a DYM trial too, and is not to shabby if you know what I mean.
4. We all need a life raft on the river at times mate, nobody can blame you for climbing aboard.
5. Hello
I'm still learning the player reading and betting strengths.. Not sure what me style is, I am still a bit stuck in how I play live with mates.. Very mixed - tight/loose/random/chasing/bluffing... lol..
All comments and tips like this very much appreciated...
Bad run night tonight... :-(
I did read over JC's blog yesterday, but it was late and the head was mostly frazzled from a long day/week already at work.. but some of it did go in!! lol... I will no doubt make a copy of it to study later when i'm in a more relaxed frame of mind..
I was thinking should I stick with one value only buy in range to start with, but as I'm just staring out I thought i'd try a mix and see how I go initially... Yes I admit the £5 start is not much, (and actually is just to start off before I put my full months allowance in the pot - awaiting pay day next week)
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to look over and comment, much appreciated..
Tonights awful results to post now... Please don't bother reading!!! lol...
Oh by the way, I can't do more than 1 table at a time (at present anyway) as I like to study the game as I play and gauge the other players ranges and styles.. maybe will get on to 2 and then 3+ once i've got a handle on my play...
Cheers
Twenny..
Just wasn't getting any cards to start with and when I did have something I wasn't that good...
Anyway..
Todays games (8th Dec 2011):
Played 5 games at mixed stakes with 3 wins and a final loss.
Starting funds were £5.00 deposited.
Game 1 - (8/12/11 - 21.43) - DYM £2.25 entry stake - Lost - Loss = -£2.25
Game 2 - (8/12/11 - 21.59) - DYM £1.15 entry stake - Win - Profit = £0.85
Game 3 - (8/12/11 - 22.16) - DYM £1.15 entry stake - Lost - Loss = -£1.15
Game 4 - (8/12/11 - 22.28) - DYM £2.25 entry stake - Lost - Loss = -£2.25
Game 5 - (8/12/11 - 22.55) - DYM £1.15 entry stake - Lost - Loss = -£1.15
Total Loss on session = -£5.95
Current Bank = £2.17
Not a good night as you can see.. Terrible play for one reason or another..
Lesson learnt, and will need to be better next time or the BR will be spent before I start..
Going to try the smaller tables for a while to limit the damage..
Twenny Pence
Basically starting with a £5 BR all you can play are the 30p DYM's considering nayhting higher is just crazy, I saw you played a £3.30 near the start, that likes 2/3's of your total roll which is bad.
With just £2.17 in there now I'd advise seriously topping up like you mentioned in a previous post as you will go broke. When you do though choose a level where you have at least 20 buy ins and stick to it, not moving up to get back losses etc this is bad.
I've got a similar diary going on right now, start with £50 and £2.25 level, and as you can see it isn't all plain sailing and variance will definitely test you.
Good luck though, and run good early !
So, an update of the past couple days:
Not a good night last night.. felt a very bad run...
Had loaded an additional £10 stake money..
Stuck to 30p stake games.. but obviously not my game or night..
I was feeling under the weather with a cold, so maybe frame of mind wasn't in it?
1 lose, 1 win & another lose.. so decided as the concentration wasn't good I should walk away..
Tonight, again, 30p games, didn't start too well.. 2 loses in a row..
Then got lucky with 2 wins.. then lose, win, lose..
Wasn't another 30p game showing, so decided to step up again to the £1.15 game..
Well, that must be my level, the cards ran better, the flops fell right.. and 3 consecutive wins!!
So all in all, so far played 23 games with 12 loses and 11 wins..
From total investment so far of £15.07
I'm only down £2.50..
Bank Roll currently £12.57
So not a disaster yet.. and looking promising to get a few win runs together once I can manage to keep tighter on the first few levels.. (must stop making the odd chase bets!!)
Full running tally of all games so far in next post...

If This Spreadsheet works?
Like yourself and many others, i moved into to playing mainly DYM which for me was as a result of John Connors thread.
Started about 3 weeks ago, prior to which i was souly playing cash. But, my laggy play was not working, so on to dyms for 2 reasons. Try and increase my BR and put some discipline back into my game. Well it' seems to have worked on both counts.
Started off about 3weeks ago with £25 and i'm now over the £160 mark, (I have JC to thank for that) so it can be done.
The hardest thing i found was keeping track of my wins and losses so have setup a spread sheet of my own not to dis similar to yours.
The pm's don't seem to be working but if anyone wants a copy i'll gladly email them. Give me a shout on only1typhoon@gmail.com.
Good luck at the tables and with your challenge
Typhoon
What stake you playing at? Maybe see you on the tables sometime...
Twenny
Well, I feel i've improved my play in certain areas, and am starting to play a lot lot tighter early stages, and not so gung ho in later stages, my last couple games were actually going real well, and am starting to get a hang of bet sizing and fold ranges and folds against re-raises etc.. But when you get a beat against you you get a beat..
Maybe pair 2's was not best cards to play at this stage!!
Just need to smarten up on these bits...
Any way, Think I will continue with the plan as can't just give up now... plenty to work on and will eventually get the better game plan soon..
Currently stands:
Played: 32
Won: 13
Lost: 19
I do put some of the weekends bad play down to illness and lack of proper concentration, so when I'm 100% again I may get a reverse streak and string some wins together..
Next stage is further and improved 'notes!'... :-)
Twenny P
In this spot though you have 2800 at 4-handed and are VERY safe, well at least in terms of knowing the blinds passing through take you to 2200 which is still a perfect stack to scare other players from calling light, so IMO open folding is the best play as you're not the shortest stack so not under the most pressure.
Not updated for a while. Been playing as often as posible.
Mixed results, but getting better. Although, overall I'm still more loses than wins.
Deposited an additional £25.00 on 15th to get a decent starting sum in place.
Was going to work on playing up levels each day, start at 30p and if won that move to 60p and so on up to max £3.30 level, but if I lost i would drop back down a level - but didn't work out that way.
I actually played a £5.50 game other day - and WON!! which was good to boost the funds back up.
But didn't play another one. lol..
I have now decided to play in level where I have minimum 30 buy ins, so this is currently £28.52/30p = 95p so playing 60p games. (means I need a positive 17 wins to move up to £1.15 level - but may decide on going to 25 buy ins if I can get a few good runs at 60p for now)
Have set out my Strategy to a fixed plan as well - Very Tight early stages and opening up a little mid-late stages - Seems to be working ok.
There are the odd silly mistake still and the odd bad luck runs, but it is poker after all so having Aces against 6 3 off suit for them to hit 4 5 7 can't be helped!!
Since my £25 deposit i'm showing a £3.30 profit - which has to be good. (13 loses - 18 wins)
Well that's it for now.
Just have a question for anyone who is interested:
What do you think to Bounty Hunters?
Would it be possible to run a similar strategy of regular play in the BH's and run a profit?
Could you builder a better/bigger Bank Roll in them as opposed to against DYM's?
Cheers all
Twenny-P
good that u r in profit like u say "has to be good"
u,ve got 2 remember that there a lot of cash players especially,
who would like to be able to say that!
so,if i were u i,d just stick with it
the only thing with dym,s is the more games you are able to play in any one session
the more chance of winning you have,i believe.
so again i can,t stress enough the importance of multi-tableing.
if u r playing either 1 or 2 tables,try playing 3 then 4,
you soon get used 2 it and i think you will see an overall improvement.
as 4 bounty hunter,s
not sure,i personally don,t like them
but my brother loves them and i know he has had some good results
from them.
could u build a better/bigger bank roll from them?
why not try playing a few low stake ones
and see how you get on,
i,d be interested.
bye 4 now
devon
Think i'll stick to single games for now...
Maybe if i get further in to the profit i'll try the multi table way, but sounds too much hard work for now.. lol
May try a week on the Bounty's in Jan, see how that goes.
See you at a table sometime..
Twenny
i,ve just finnished another session
at £3.30 level
won 18 lost 5
profit £32.10
that,s playing 6 tables for just about 3 hours!
last night won 15 lost 8
profit £14.10
what else can i say .....
you get out what you put in
and believe me,i,ve put in alot of hours
and finally i am getting some reward!
anyway,keep at it
see you soon
the devonfish
Total since started:
Played 70
Won: 36
Lost: 34
Finally in positive wins!!!
Since £25 deposit:
Played 37 - Won 23 - Lost 14
Tonights results: won at 60p / lost at 60p / won 2 at 60p / won 2 at £1.15
Quit whilst i was in good form - Last game was long and hard, but bit of fun banter whilst playing helped keep us sane! lol...
Am learning to dack hands that i used to try and chase with.. This I feel is the best improvement in my game.
Still need to think on my betting size and tighten a touch more, but it's going in the right direction.
And you just can't win in Poker some times? Even Aces against 7 9 off suit loses an All In when the board goes 10 8 K Ace 6.... Poker! hey!!
Ok so, Bank Roll info:
Since started (7th December) - Deposits £40 - Down -£9.25
Since £25 deposit (15th December) - UP £5.60
So will continue at the £1.15 stake whilst have over 25 buy ins
4 wins in a row is best performance so far, and longing to get 5 and then 6, 7, maybe even 10? LOL...
12 wins should just about break me even overall (but 12 wins and no loses would be a miracle!!)
Positive Thinking - Twenny Pence
My first post and new to Sky Poker and online poker in general! So just been getting a feel for things around here at the moment.
I've been playing live poker for about 2 years and thought I'd have a dabble with the whole online game to see if it's for me or not.
After a few frustrations with the Cash games I decided to have a go with the Sit'n'Gos and started playing the DYM's, after a bit of success I think these suit the game I've learnt playing live the most.
Currently I've played 9 DYM's and won 7, the two I lost were insignificant 0.30p games where I first tried them out, the rest are either 1.15 or 2.25 games.
It's only a small number of games but if I can keep that ratio up then that'll be great
Onwards and upwards as they say....
I'll remember to play my best if I meet you on the tables... lol
Well done so far..
Twenny.
Losing only 3..
Making a £5.90 profit in those 16 games..
Loving the £1.15 stake level games.
Overall since start of blog:
Finally made profit on the full starting deposits:
Will continue onwards and hopefully now be able to build that Bank Roll...
Cheers
Twenny
you still trying your luck on the £3.30 tables i see.
as i noticed you on my table tonight.
only problem with that is
if you lose,as you did earlier
you then have to win 4 games in a row @ £1.15 level
and that still only put you 10p up.
so my advice is to try and play just the one level
even though it is very tempting to play higher.
try and beat the £1.15 level
move up to £2.25
then £3.30
b/roll management and dicipline is so important
"just saying"
devon
I'd actually gone £3.30 in error.. went to step up to £2.15 and the screen must of changed as I clicked the game tag.. didn't spot the higher stake level till saw you playing.. lol
And just happened to run bad in the game (was texting and playing at same time, not watching properly.)
Won 2 x £2.25 games straight afterwards.
Tonight I'm going to live dangerous - registered in to the Fantasy Football free roller, try my new skills at a small tourney to try and cash some monies... lol
All the best..
