Was playing last night and took a beat and it put me on major tilt, which i solved by shutting down the computer and walking away. Was unable to think clearly last night so waited for this morning before saying anything.

Now the beat itself was nothing special, have had a lot worse before and will again, it was blind on blind short vs short my QQ vs his AJ.Like i said the beat was not overly bad and was not down to bad play by either and i am not blaming the site either.

Now we get to the part that put me on tilt.To put it into context i only have a very small BR so can only play small levels(not a bleat just a fact). So with this being so i can only play in micro level games.Last sunday i entered SURVIVOR and made it through the whole week and was still in when this hand occurred which was on the money bubble. So effectively we are talking about a hand going in as 70/30 fave for a prize £256 minimum.

If this hand had come along at any other time during the whole week i would have been disappointed but not tilted by it. But when the prize is so significant in BR terms it becomes a lot harder to deal with these things. We are always told to play within our rolls and with only a £1 entry i certainly was but sometimes the prize at the end of the rainbow can be of such relative magnitude as to make it difficult to deal with.

We are always on the look out for the big payday without ever really considering the consequences of almost but not quite achieving it. Missing by a long way is easier to deal with than having it within touching distance and missing.

Like i said before  i am not complaining about anything or looking for sympathy. This is just a way of letting people know that either playing outside your roll  or missing out on the big prize can both be very painful. The only way to avoid these are to play within your roll, try not to think about any possible rewards or just plain run better.

Well i am still going to go hunting that big win and hopefully from now on i will either get it or miss by a long way.

Hope ya run better the next time this occurs xxx

I had the same feeling Talon after Satelliting into the SPT Semi final for the final in Nottingham.  I went out on the money bubble, missing out on £198.  It hurt like hell.  All the I shudda never shoved or called goes through your mind for days. After 6 days of surviving, It has to hurt a lot more.

On the bright side, the next day I managed to Satellite into the doublestack and cash for £400.  You obviously have the game, so keep plugging away, and I'm sure a decent large cash will come your way.

    Good Luck

PS See you in the survivor tonight.

That sucks Talon, out of interest would you have withdrawn most of it? or play more/higher stakes games?

Although not as painful cos I still got a nice cash, I was HU in a ME a while back the chips went in with my A2 vs his KJ, although I was only about 60% and not much of a favourite it was horrible missing out on that 1st place (and an extra £600...)

Always seem to lose the important all ins :/

This hand and Colin's excellent post are both discussed in 'A Winner's Journey' - airing at 8pm on Wednesday 14th December.

Had a similar experiance to this not as bad but close, made it through from the monday (£2 buy in) and lost an AK v A3 with about 20 players left (for 40bb pot), one of those times when you think survive all week and it ends like that lol, still nowt you can do once the money goes in.

Good post though mate and hope you find better luck next time. :)

Thanks for all the comments guys, it is really appreciated. I have not bothered going through the hand in my mind because i know i played it correctly as did my opponent, and given the same circumstance again i would do exactly the same thing.

Did not enter survivor this week because it was just too close to a still open wound but will try it again.

In response to Mr Hartigan's post. I am pretty certain that when this show is aired i will have something important to do like washing the ceiling or taking the cat for a walk so i will be unable to watch it.
