Tonight's main event - question

Won a seat to one of the Semis on the Master Cash show a few weeks back, then binked the satellite to win a seat into tonight's main event, so I'm freerolling in tonight's main event :D If it wasn't for this, I wouldn't have entered, as the main event is way, way out of my bankroll - I've never even had half a buy-in in my account before!

If I end up anywhere near to the money, I don't really know how I should play - In every tournament I play, I usually play to win, and if I go out on the bubble, then c'est la vie. However, in this tournament where even a min cash would be absolutely massive relative to my bankroll, should I still be playing to win near the bubble (if I get there), or just playing to get into the money?

    Freerolling you say? No better way to play poker. A min cash would be nice but a major score would be even better. Gotta play FTW as you've only got time invested.

    That min cash represents such a huge amount relative to your poker BR I don't think you can completely ignore it. Depends on the circumstances at the time as to how you play it imho.

    how many chances do you get to freeroll when the top prize will be well over £15,000? think you should just take this opportunity to just go for it. dont get scared

    Yeah, smash them up on the bubble, there will be a lot of people playing scared around it. but then again, there is no harm in trying to just sneak in the money then getting your chips in at the first possible chance. Best of luck pingu, will give you a rail assuming you are still in when im back from the pub!!

    Play to win as normal, if you find yourself at the bubble and the cash would be massive for you - then play to cash - once cashed all out guns blazing for the win tbh

    dnt let the money bother u just play how u would normally play or u will make silly folds knowing your ahead just have a shot of vodka before u play abit of dutch courage and play ya normal way if ya do well then then play tight near the bubble make sure u cash :)

    definitely go for it, you have nothing to lose where as others on your table at the time will, try to avoid slowing it right down every hand as this will only affect you if you are playing a short stack, if you find yourself in a short stack situation close to the bubble don't let this affect you still continue to play your game and have some sort of system in your head like try to pick up 1 bb and sb per orbit this will help you to maintain your stack... i am not saying start shoving super light to just pick up 1bb and 1 sb more picking the right spots just to try and maintain a playable stack and not letting yourself dwindle down.

    but good luck and just go for it remember others on your table will be in the same boat as you probably where the min cash is significant to them so they won't be looking to get out of line identify these players and use them as your way to pick up chips

    ep, young gun did a very good thread on this about 4 mnths ago when we both satellited into the high roller. to both of us the min cash was large at the time and i must admit i set out to cash and go from there. young guns attitude was slightly different and when we got down to the bubble played back at a chip leader. technically the right thing to do, but talking to him that night and the days after i think he regretted it. im not saying to put down aa on the bubble but if a min cash elevates your br by a massive amount and you get 1/2/3 mnths worth of play out of it then dont be rash! 
    like others have said play your normal game up until the money and then keep an eye on the other tables and ss etc. good luck ,hope you tid, would be nice for a little fish to take this puppy down!   phil

    it depends on how many chips you hvae around the bubble.

    i def would change my play if a min cash was a big boost to my roll.  just do what you feels right for you if and when it comes to that.

    don't do anything ridic like folding Queens or anything tho :)

    Finished 50th, doubled Scotty up with AJ vs AK, then 3-bet shoved AJ in the BB with short stack, got called by chip leader with K7, river king. Sadly no cash but wasn't too far off :)
