Poker New Year Resolutions

edited January 2012 in Poker Chat
Made any?

Mine's is to stop being a serial depositor.

I've checked the money I've blasted in the two years I've been playing and it's alarming. Could have taken the wee man to Disneyland with the amount I've gone through. Crazy.

My leak is obvious though. It's playing drunk. Not that I play particularly badly but my BRM doesn't so much fly out the window as hop aboard a spaceship and propel itself into the stratospheres. Sick of building a BR and then blasting it in one night of lunacy. Past insanities including playing Lolufold at a £400 HU STT, playing Gerrard9 HU cash for my whole roll and countless £100 DYMs. Even wander into nl200 at times. You can almost hear the Jaws theme tune as the sharks circle. Unbelievably disheartening to wake up busto for the nth time.

So I'm going to learn cash this year as MTTs drive me nuts at time. Start at the bottom and try to work my way up. Maybe play the DTD to get my MTT fix at times too. And also seriously limit the times I'm drunk at home alone and withdraw my BR anytime I know I'm going to be. Not going to be easy but nothing worthwhile ever is.

Anyhoo, Happy New Year to all at Sky Poker and may the cards fall your way in 2012. Unless, of course, you're in a hand against me.

Hi Andrew, thanks for that. I've posted your post on my new thread all about Resolutions for 2012 (Orford's 12 for '12) where I've posted a reply.

Ever considered changing your drinking habit rather than your poker habit ?

    Fair point.

My drinking's not really a problem though.
    Nor is my poker.

    But the two combined...

But yes, opening a bottle of wine when home alone is something I'm going to have to try and limit. Which, to be fair, I already said in the OP.

One of the best reasons to play at Sky as oposed to other sites is tha fact that you can cash out immidiatly after depositing. The only time you can't is with your winnings on cash tables which you have to wait 24hrs for.

Becasue of this have you ever concidered keeping you BR offline? Just open a new cash card account with no overdraft. you would be able to play from this account and keep your online funds to a mimium - once you have cashed out your profits for the day you can't stop this and it won't hit your bank acc for a couple of days, this gives you time to calm down and actually realise your profits. instead of logging on later that day/week drunk and spaffing the lot.

There is no rule that says your BR has to be kept online. Might be worth a try.

    Cheers Kyle hope it helps
