why does it have to be my first chance of winning good that knocks me out

i got free entry into the 4K BH thanks to a well played sat but not once in the tourney did i seem to suceed in getting what i wanted on the flop so my chip stack is almost halved then i hit my set so get all excited thinking my time has finally come but what happens the villian gets his straight on the river so after such good play getting myself into this 4K BH for just 5.50 i get knocked out without once getting a nice hand.

    ^^ Agree about the limping.

I probably raise the flop 4way.

Villian made a mistake calling the turn, he's not got the odds to hit his straight and you don't have much behind anyway for when he does hit. He has about 1in5 chance of hitting and and has paid 750 into 2250 to see it. You win from this street longterm

You were unlucky but I was allowed to look cheap and lambert not all of us call just to hit I was maybe looking for a board to rep and yes a bluff there would have backfired but instead I was allowed to get to river and not need to rep. Of course at any point a decent raise I would of folded.

No point calling me villian by either the orginal poster or paul when my name wasnt blocked out!

This bolded bit is a fair point. lol
It is better to disguise the aliases in hands which include the result.

I think the idea of possibly bluffing the river is flawed because the OP only has a half-pot bet behind. He's basically only folding the river if he was betting the turn with a drawing hand that misses. The only drawing hand that he could call the flop with is realistically the hand we're holding, so that's unlikely. The fact that the OP has led on an Ace turn also indicates that he probably wasn't playing a drawing hand on the flop. Lambert's point is fair.

Although this is BBV and not the clinic, so I'm never sure how much analysis people are really looking for.

sorry about not hiding the names of the villians i forgot about it.
as for the reason it got posted in the BBV was down to the frustation that after getting into the tourney through a sat i folded my first hand in the tourney 9h10h preflop because of a raise and yet could have hit two pair but after that i was hardly ever getting a good hand so my chips were constantly draining. so here i hit the set and got excited about it only to get beat on the river.

Apologies if you were offended about the villian bit, not a derogatory term, just a force of habit.

Calling the flop is fine imo, I meant the call on the turn. The effective stack will only be 1500 on the river, so when you bluff he will be having to call 1500 to win 4500 so I don't think bluffs will work against anything but air. You weren't allowed to get to the river, you were charged a price we aint getting odds to call on.
