get my FH on a flush heavy board and get checked on the river should i just jam

edited March 2013 in The Poker Clinic
the villian has bet the flop and the turn so i have him a flush.
when he checked the river i'm left thinking should i just jam because i would only expect a caller if he holds a flush. it seems like a simular time to when i hit my J8 FH on the river and the 3 who held a straight just checked

I raise the flop, you'll get called by SO many hands with 1 club and you may even get 3bet from top pairs and overpairs that fear the monotone board and wanna close it down now.

Turn is pretty urgh, but I'd call given the bet sizing with the hope of housing up.

Definitely ship the river, you have less than a pot sized bet left and he should have plenty of hands to call with.

I remember this one Craig, as soon as the board paired I went into check call mode as I only had a K high flush. If you had shoved I would have folded as an A of clubs or a FH would have me beat. From what I have seen of your play I wouldn't put you on anything but the nutz.

As you played it you got the most value out of me but I would generally shove that river in the hope the person holds a hand that can call.

It was probably the only hand I didnt make a complete mess of. lol

This is my first ever post on a forum so hopefully it works.

if you think i hold the nuts then why are you making a bet on the turn because if i was a nit i would have folded anyway.
also here is a hand that proves i am not just shoving with the nuts
my hand KK the board has an A a straight and a flush but yet i shove and thankfully the villian folds

the problem people like yourself have is that you don't taking enough risks when your likely ahead, on that flop i held a set so i just went with a call the problem folding every shove i make is your just head towards danger of loosing every pot because if i know you will fold most hand that i make a shove with you like that villian who folded when i shoved on the river to bluff a flush will struggle to ever get value from hands because i will know therefore that if you shove you hold the nuts meaning i should just fold and if you check i will shove on any river to steal the pot.

I bet the turn because I thought I was ahead, I was only worried about 1 card and that makes the bet on the turn easier to make.

On the river anyone who had hit a set on the flop, and quite rightly, would come along to the river because it was cheap to do so now housed.

As I said I have seen you play a lot on the 2/4 tables and without wanting to give anything away the way you play would lead me to suggest your hand was better than mine.

As I said the one thing I would do was shove the river in the hope of a flush calling, so if you had done so what thought process would you expect me to have? I go with how I think a hand has been played and how competent I think a player is (you are more competent than me).

My problem at the moment seems to be calling off these types of plays against unkowns and they appear with the nutz. Whilst I make a little bit of profit each month most is blown away calling off shoves in these scenarios with 2nd, 3rd, 4th nutz and not thinking about the situation.

why are you going nuts with kings when it's super obvious you're beat?

with the KK on an AA on the board i thought any villian might call with a weaker pair as they showned no sign of a raise on the flop or turn and sets are very rare but i will know for next time that a call from these will mean they are trapping me so i shall check the river. as for that KK on a flush and straight board well that goes back to the point where baboss thinks i only shove with the nuts and i must admit i myself think that too many see me as a nit so when he bet on the turn i thought myself right he has got an A or two pair for sure and used the straight and flush as the chance to bluff and well i got what i wanted the villian to fold.
unless villians will call more of my shoves with weaker hands on drier and my value bets on wet boards then i can bluff easily on these wet boards.
i here it said all the time on the channel if people are calling the flop and turn then why fold the river.

Really bad through processes all over the place here tbh.

For a start, 90% of 4NL players will not pay the slightest bit of attention to your image or their own.
