edited March 2013 in Poker Chat

Happy Easter weekend!  Happy Easter UKOPS!  We're celebrating with full coverage of the UKOPS main event tonight from 8pm GL to all involved look forward to seeing you on the tables...

Hope you're well! I'm just back from Vegas and I don't like to brag but I struck pretty big at The Bellagio, came away with 15 big ones!**

**15 dollars, I bet 5 and hit trip Aces on video poker but a win's a win right!?*

The jet lag's a killer though, very nearly woke up in Luton yesterday (on the train I wasn't driving) nothing against Luton it's got a lovely casino after all, it's just a fair few miles from where I live...  But! a new survey says many of us are so exhausted by modern life we've dozed off in the strangest places. The most common place is on public transport but thousands admitted sleeping in nightclubs at the cinema and even on the loo!

So for tonight's competition we're after your stories of falling asleep in strange places - known in the sky poker world as 'doing a tikay'

We've got 3 entries into Sunday's mini UKOPS event up for grabs...  Doesn't have to be you, if you've got a belter about your mate waking up in the bedroom of his old house (I have!) then all good and welcome!

Here's tonights rundown then

7pm – 8pm:

UKOPS 1 satellite coverage

8pm – Midnight:

Full coverage from UKOPS 1 Main event.

Including the top 10 hands from Top of the Pots.

See you then!

Evening Sarah and your great great great great Granddad. Looking forward to UKOPs this w/end and I hope it will boost my BR rather than break it!

A few years ago, a 'friend' of mine was making his way home after having a few beers one night. It was very late and he was struggling to put one foot in front of the other, so when he saw that he was at his Girlfriends street, he decided to crash at hers. Being the gent he is, he crept in through the lounge window as not to wake her. He then stumbled to the sofa and was out like a light..................

........Unfortunately, it was in fact one of his ex girlfriend's house so when she woke up to find him there in the morning, the air turned a little blue.

Thankfully, they can both laugh about it nowadays......ish.

    Hi guys,

I've fallen asleep in a couple of strange places but the best one was a few years back. I had been working 12 hour night shifts 11pm-11am and after i finished my 5th night i decided to not bother going asleep and stay up all day instead, well that was a big mistake because in the evening me and my girlfriend went pizza hut, i was really tired by this point but i managed to eat my pizza. Then disaster struck, my girlfriend went toilet and by the time she came back i was fast asleep! she woke me up laughing her head off and i just stared back at her all confused. I was a bit disappointed because i really wanted desert.

hi guys, i fell asleep once on a train back from kings cross after a night out. my "mates" thought it would be funny to leave me there as they all got off at our stop. i woke up in cambridge only to be made to pay for the rest of my fare, and wait 4 hours for the next train back in the morning. i can safely say i havnt fallen asleep on public transport again.

I was at a friend's house once, and we were having a drink or two to be sociable. He managed to fall asleep with a mouthful of beer. Obviously, I had no idea that he hadn't swallowed his beer, but upon seeing him asleep, I yelled "C'MON DAVE WAKEY WAKEY" at the top of my voice. I was surprised and amused to see him spray a gob full of beer across his lounge.

    Hi

Gr8 line up tonight so will be watching

When i used to travel from Lancaster to Preston by train to work , they were long and tiring days. A few of us would go for a drink after work in preston. Its only an 18 minute jouney as Tikay would probably know but i fell asleep one day and when i awoke i noticed the hills seemed to have got bigger. I,d overun my stop and had to get off at Penrith. Luckily 5 minutes later there was a train going back so could have been worse

The next day and exactly the same thing happens again exept the hills look even bigger again. This time i,d overun Lancaster and even Penrith. The conductor didn,t reasure me as he explained the nest stop would be Edinburgh and it would be to late to get a train back .

I did decide to take advantae off a bad situation and took a walk round Edinburgh to see some sites before having to book into a Trael Lodge for the night /> i then had to pay again for a ticket to get me str8 back to Preston in the morning and arrived late for work

Shortly after a guy from Morecambe started and i manged to get a lift every day, then evuantually moved to Preston

Have a good show - I might be trying 1 or 2 sats for the UKOPs

    hi sarah and TK
i have a question which relates to pocket queens preflop.
it comes after i lost £4 when i jammed with it preflop on a nl4p table.

the way it went was i raised it to 20p and the villian reraise it to 36p before i reraised it to 48p then it was reraised to £1.64 so i jammed and he called and held KK
    the question i have is
Although these tables do consist of looser players if i have only just joined the table and don't know the villian well could it have been better to just call the 1.64 and see how the flop turn out?

    Hi Sarah and Tikay

I wore a mankini in public once. - thats worse than falling asleep anywhere right? lol

Sleeping stories. Given my very bizare sleeping ways, ive slept in some pretty unusal places. The worst, I'd had a night out with a few mates, after making it home, and starting on the beers in a fridge i had an arguement with one of the mates. He left, and i felt bad, so in an attempt to catch up and appoligise i went through a wooded area.

I never made it back home, woke up in a bush full of thorns, and spiders. Given my hate of spiders thats not a great place to be.

Hey guys, looking forward to the UKOPS coverage. Couldn't sattelite in so I'm playing the mini.
Robert DaVinci? Was he in The De Niro code?

Also when does the Dublin SPT take place?

Good Evening Sarah & Tikay!! Looking forward to a good show tonight!! Failed to Satelite into tonight's main so am going into the mini!!!
My story about falling asleep in strange places is about one of my friends. One night he went out clubbing. Having left the club very frunk decided to walk home, on route he passed his local tesco's & being in a fantastic state of mind decided to do half his weekly shop on the way!!! Later that morning on my way to work i passed what looked like a homeless man slumped fast asleep on the local pub's garden bench!!! Only to look a little harder to realise it was infact my friend!!! He did explain later that he stopped at the pub because his arms were hurting due to the weight of his shopping!!! A stop that lasted 5 hours!!!!!!
Great show guys!!! Keep up the good work!!!
    Stuart!!

I tried falling asleep in Aspers at 4am Sunday morning.  I didn't realise I'd be chucked out for doing so, but hey ho, lesson learned and all that.

Question for Mr Kendall.  What is the best way to kill many mice?

Hi sarah and tikay great show as usual! :D

My story about falling asleep in weird places is about one of my friends who went out on the last one friday night and as he was walking home came upto carpet right, and there had just been a robbery there and he decides to go in and get hes head down on one of the display beds! He didnt get a good wake up when he was woken to be arrested for the crime!

    Good evening Tony and Sarah,

Thanks for the reminder of that SPT hand TK ;)

I haven't fell asleep anywhere funny but I am a VERY heavy sleeper so once when I was a kid, I felt out of the top bunk of bunkbeds and didn't wake up!

Tonight is the first time I've ever played any of the UKOPS events and I'm currently 3rd out of 24 in the Micro with 6 heads :)

greetings to you both. I hope you are both well.
I once fell asleep at a works disco. I had just finished an 18 hour shift and I had only gone to be sociable .... well and to try my luck with some of my pretty workmates. suffice to say my head was in my fish and chips with a pint of beer in my hand. sadly my luck was out that night as well... no idea why!!!.
    have fun

Tikay, I lived in Lancaster/Morecambe for years. The best thing about the area is probably the direct train to London.

It was a pleasure to meet you at the weekend btw :-)

    good evening sarah and tikay,

when i was younger i remember this 1 time (a did have a liitle to much to drink) finding myself waking up in early hours of the morning with cars driving by, and a daffodil stuck to my head, i was asleep on a roundabout, i still to this day dont know how i ended up sleeping there. (i do not drink anymore) thankfully.

question for tikay, with ukops underway,  why again NO omaha has been inculded in the schedule??

    have a great show.

Hi all.  Just in from work so I hope the show has gone well so far.  Has anyone mistook cement for concrete today yet?

In my youth I went to a couple of parties where people fell asleep and woke up with only one eyebrow left, never happened to me I'm glad to say.  I did used to fall asleep watching Iron Maiden videos.  Not that they were boring in any way but they used to relax me so much I would drift off only to be woken with a bang twenty mins or so later!

Run well all and remember, it may be UKOPS week but make sure you have fun out there

well although i couldn't hit my 3rd queen on that hand asked about earlier i did take that loss with a pinch of salt knowing other days i have had the high pair myself.
the hands that are hard to accept as losses are when hands like K10o still beat my set (333) on a rainbow flop 8 3 10

    Hey Hey,

Weirdest place fell asleep was bondi beach!, When i was 19 my and 2 friends were travelling down the east coast in Australia. We were staying at a hostel at Bondi Beach over Christmas. After a massive night out, without much sleep we thought it would be a good idea to go down to the beach to chill out! I went and fell asleep haha and even tho i was plastered in sun tan lotion woke up with my back red as a fire engine! Not good!!

Moral of the story dont fall asleep in paradise!

The hand with Paul, i understand the reasoning behind the call, but he must have put him on less than nothing!

Even a semi bluff was winning that all day long. a 3 or whatever cards were out on the board (even if he didnt put him on an ace).

It doesn't seem like a good call imo due to the amount of times he is going to be wrong there. Unless he had a stone cold tell that it was an outright bluff.

You missed out my sleeping story in my first post Sarah.

When I was 15 or so I went on work experience with my dad in a printing firm.  By the last day of a fortnight working there I was cream crackered.  Working in a printing firm basically consists of standing in a dark room for a few hours, so kind of ideal conditions for catching a nap.  My boss wasn't too pleased when he walked into our office and heard some immense snoring emanating from my direction.  I wasn't asked back.

Good evening Sarah. Looking lovely tonight. Tikay, you're a fine looking chap, of course.

I had a surprise couple of hours play earlier when the mini unexpectedly popped up. It seems Richard gave me a prize on Tuesday... That makes you the only presenter that hasn't given me a prize yet, Sarah. I'm just saying for future reference. ;)

Would you mind giving a bit of a big up to the clinic section of the forum. It would be nice to get lots of new faces/avatars in there. You mentioned pot odds a few minutes ago and coincidentally there was a lengthy thread on that in the clinic a few days ago:

    Pot Odds

I don't drink so sleep nowhere but my own bed (all too frequently alone, lol). However my friends have woken up in shop doorways, against lampposts, under cars - Nowhere unusual for Blackpool on a Friday night.

As per usual, it's been an excellent show.

    Evening Sarah and Tony.

Might have an unfair advantage in this going to sleep comp as i suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome. i am a lot better now but a few years ago when it really had a hold as soon as i felt the slightest bit tired i would go to sleep no matter where i was or what time of day. These included falling asleep in a restaurant half way through a meal celebrating my daughters 18th birthday, falling asleep stood up outside a pub on the main road where i live for about half an hour with lots of people just walking past me as it was only 8pm (must have all thought i was drunk) and the funniest one i guess was going to see the specialist for the first time and yes i fell fast asleep in the waiting room and he had to shake me awake for my appointment!!
