did i waste the chance build my stack

edited March 2013 in The Poker Clinic

i have just went out in the ukops mini finishing in 73 so won 6.38 and 1 head prize i have a few hands from the tournament i would like to ask about
the table i was on was fairly tight and my image to most was a very tight player as i was folding time constantly in the whole tournament i folded 81% of my hands preflop so i couldn't see many calling unless my stack was small.

hand one
with my stack size being so small was it better to shove this preflop as the button could have been just stealing the blinds

KQ is a standard fold imo, people don't 3x or call 3x raises at this stage very light. I'd be amazed if a shove got even 1 of them to fold, and you won't ever be in good shape when called.

The AA hand, your raise is WAY too big. If you have less than 20xBB then I'd say it's ok to re-shove because we'd be making the exact same move with 77, AQ etc but this deep you've lost tons of value. Just 3bet to like 5k.

In the first hand I don't think we have any fold equity. We've got 10BB and the button has raised for 3BB out of his 11BB stack. He's not folding. The small blind has called that raise from his 13BB stack. It's very likely that we're going to be called and it seems unlikely that our KQ is ahead. There is alot of money in the middle so it's not the worst spot to take a spin, but I think we're better off folding and shoving an unopened pot.

On the second hand, we shouldn't be 3-bet shoving with 29BB. If we had 20BB or less perhaps then a shove would be reasonable because we can rep a wider 3-betting range but with this 29BB stack, we're just going to get all but a very narrow range to fold. 3-bet to something along the lines of 6-7BB.

Think the KJ is a pretty standard shove from the CO with 7xBB

    This.

Late position with 7.5BB and a hand that plays fairly well against people's calling ranges. We've got good fold equity and can't afford to wait for a better spot. Definitely a shove.
