why would AJ still call a board as dangerous as this

edited April 2013 in The Poker Clinic

this was from the min BH. i just changed tables so did not have a good read  of the villian
did i just go in too quick on the turn or would a raise on the flop have been better?

well forget them bad beats where i lost from shoving preflop because this is worst than any of them because the only hand that was still behind on the turn would be Ad 10d in comparison to the number of hands ahead on the turn. i did look the villian up on the sharkscope and that says it all because she/he has not yet played in any tournament so to this villian a head is a decent enough prize for here to simply make the call with the worst of hands just in the hope that i had that Ad10d

even if he didn't fold the river why did he call the turn when any 8 or K as well as AK QJ J10 AQ 109 j9 are all ahead of him in so he would have most time been chasing a K.
the only hand possible to be behind on the turn is Ad 10d most other times that villian would have been behind so if he is going to call why does he not go for the jam himself instead of just calling it.

what i mainly am asking in regards to this post is what could i have done as a bluff that would have got the villian to fold a hand as weak as AJ?

Doesn't look like the sizing a total noob would make

you rep nothing and got owned by the looks of it

if you had a straight you'd flat, if you had 2 pair you'd flat, if you had a set you'd flat, min raising was prob the worse option out of the four choices you had

I don't understand the turn raise at all.

I assume we're turning our hand into a bluff because obv on a board with 4 to an OESD, holding 3rd pair, we are NEVER getting called by worse.

If he calls the turn, very unlikely he'll fold the river when you only have a 1/2 pot sized bet left.

Call pre is fine, call on the flop is ok but I'm not loving life, I'm snap folding when he barrels the turn.

FWIW, he isn't in that bad shape at any point. If you raise the flop, you might get a fold or he might reship, but we have no idea that he has AJ so it's no good saying what you should have done after knowing his exact hand. Imo the turn is a terrible card for us and we just need to cut our losses now.
