Could someone tell me the odds of a set vs set confrontation vs 1 opponent on a non paired board in a 6 max game? In a Dan Harrington book it says that with a set ( obviously with no flush or straight texture) you should just get it in and if they have a higher set it just isn't your day. Think it was Harrington on Hold em.

Don't know what the odds are but generally speaking he's right, if there are no possible flushes or str8s, you should be very happy getting your money in and confident you have the best hand with any flopped set or even by the river if no str8/flush has appeared.

Like you just can't be folding 77 on

47J rainbow, just because he might possibly have JJ.

Or folding 22 on

2A68J would be awful unless you have some sicko read that the villian is a complete nit and you know exactly how he plays a set, and this is the only hand he EVER plays like this AND this is based on a large sample.

If they have a bigger set in either scenario, unlucky, but if you're not getting yuor money in then you lose lots of value everytime they have TP, 2pr, draws, blah blah

LOL Your example was freaky! Just lost a buy in with my 77 vs JJ on that exact board

Unlucky, happens though. In the longrun you should have JJ and they have 77 just as often.
