MTT Help

edited May 2013 in Poker Chat

Hey!

I'm going to start playing a few more lower stakes MTTs, where as i've been mainly playing cash recently.

Just wondering if anyone would be able to help me out with this, provide some feedback/ look at some hands to help me improve . I could post hands up at various different stages of tournies, or whatever you felt was the most beneficial way of doing this.

If you would like to help me out, please send me a message or leave a post on here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:D

if u post hands in the clinic i could help u m8

my advice is patient early stages u cant win a mtt in early stages but u can sure lose it just play tight early stages n then open ya game abit mid to late stages raise unopened pots etc blind steal and play pots in position rather then out of position so much easier to play

Make sure you explain why it's a bad idea to start a hand with 15xbb, end it with 5xbb, and not get to showdown inbetween

    lool here we go :p

1 thing i would say if your just starting on MTT,s don,t play to many. Spend time watching the other players (bet sizing etc) esp when your not in the hand ( you could be on same table for a while )and try and play each player on what information youve gained on that player. It should also make your game more unpredictable -GL.  P

Ps Keep an eye on chipstacks

    Hey Donk,

That would be brilliant mate, I don't know if there's much point in posting hands in isolation?

Maybe post up 5-10 crucial hands to get some feedback/ how I played them and any mistakes made?

I'll post some up tonight, if I play a MTT, if i'm about tonight i'll give one a go.
  • edited May 2013
just post em up n when i get time i give u some feed back on each hand dnt post any hand up just the 1s u find yaself in tricky spots
  • edited May 2013
I will do mate, it'll only be interesting hands/ crucial hands.

I'm in a satelite for the mini tonight, if i dont qualify from that i might buy in directly. I'm gonna enter the 1 quid deepstack 2 2night.

What made you think he didn't 'have much' ?

You take a vvvvv strong line on the flop, and he still calls, what do u think he has?

    Just shove pre!
  • edited May 2013

    Really? Even with 20 bigs?

I don't know, it didn't take a lot for him to raise from previous hands.

If i 3 bet it to pre 2 900, and he shoves? Can i ever fold here?

  • edited May 2013
Plus i hada really tight image lol but a really good call in the end,

geeeeeeeeez hate the way u played this hand

like dohh says shove is fine, if you 3 bet to 900-1200, you are never folding and nor should you. You have aq and 20bbs getting it in pre is fine
  • edited May 2013
The AQ hand is a pretty standard reship pre
  • edited May 2013

    Cheers dohhhh and mattless

Yeah donk, i was just turning my hand into a bluff, a min raise normally looks super strong, I was always shoving the turn, but yeah i should have raised pre or shipped it, that's where i'm not good at Mtts sitting with 20-25 bigs, it's easier with 10-15 just shove or fold.

  • edited May 2013
A min-raise pre-flop is not super-strong. A min-raise at this stage of the tournament is standard.

If you mean post-flop; while a good player might see it as super-strong, most players just see it as really cheap and don't like folding to a small raise. If you're going to raise post-flop after you've missed, why not 3-bet pre-flop when there's a good chance you have the best hand?
  • edited May 2013

I meant min raise post flop lol

Yep, i should have just shipped it like others have said, or 3 bet it.

The reason i dont want 2 3 bet, i'm out of position, and if i miss the flop it's really hard to play.

The reason i didn't ship was because i'm thinking it's most times a flip or im dominated, if it's a flip do i want to be racing for my tournament life? I know in tournies u need to take flips at some point.

I guess this logic above is wrong for the simple reason, most times, we are getting a fold here. And even if we are called we have decent equity in the hand

Played 3 MTTs 2 night, i got really unlucky in the deep stack tournie, pocket 10s against a maniac who was shoving every hand, called with 10s, against q 9 and he rivers a queen!

This is my exit hand from BH Game, i was playing quite well, flopped a set of aces, all in on turn and he hits a gut shot on river, sick!
