Back from SPT Dublin.  Rather tired but had an absolute scream.  Agree with Julian above in hoping the SPT can return to Dublin next year.  I would book my hotel now :o)

Absolutely fantastic event by Sky as per usual. The team for the SPT's really do the company proud. Lovely cosy friendly venue but then you wouldn't expect anything else in Dublin!!

I had a nice table for day 1 and found my chip stack increasingly nicely throughout the day which was a nice change lol. Was extremely pleased to make day 2 as well as Dave. We both had less than average stack coming in to day 2 but were pleased to be there. I got down to a short stack quite early and had a real grind on my hands. I nursed my short stack looking for my spot and shoved not many chips with Q4 of diamonds on the unopened button only to be snap re raised all in by the small blind who had A10 of spades. I am up getting my coat on when my 4 hits but with 4 black cards I am convinced he has hit his flush and I am off. Turns out my 4 wins the hand so I have more play. Anther doube up with 77 called by 66 and holding up and I have a little more play although still needing the illustrious double up. A raise on the button and I call when I should have found my all in button. Re raised by big blind then shoved by original raiser I fold to see AK vs AA we lose chris c. I should have been even all in but folded so kind of feel I have been saved at this point. Jamie Lou shoves on button I look down to find QQ in big blind so am all in too. Jamie shows 9 10 and hits her 9 and 10 but lucky for me there are 2 jacks on flop giving me better 2pair unlucky Jamie Lou. I am up And down as we approach the bubble. 2 to go and I decide to keep pretty quiet heading to the cash to then ramp up after the bubble ..... Only to see AK in small blind. Seat 9 raises I shove and am snap called with AA sigh...... Feel pretty cross with myself after having decided my plan if action to then go against what I had told myself. I know majority of people would never play this hand any different to how I did but was still pretty annoyed with myself
shoving A rag lol. And that's me out 14th. On reflection I know I couldnt play he hand any different and the guy who takes me out goes on to finish 3rd very well done that man :o)

All in all had a fantastic weekend and am very pleased to have gone so deep in such a fantastic structured game and feel confident in going into my next big tournament day 1 on Thursday in Sheffield.

We always enjoy SPT's and Dublin was fantastic. There were a lot more regulars than usual but all so friendly and it was great to catch up with the regular SPT regulars who really have become firm friends. There were so many funny and great moments over the weekend both in the sporting emporium and the bars around Dublin. Lots of fun and not much sleep were had and 4am trip to McDonalds with the Bromleys and minty was extremely funny. Taking oynutter round the pubs of Dublin then back to the casino to watch
Julian take the tourney down followed by a fun cash session created ever more fantastic SPT memories.

If you have never been to an SPT before you really dont know what you are missing.  It is great meeting up with friends and you always make new ones at each event.  The banter is second to none

Again I would like to sincerely congratulate Julian on his great win.  I had the pleasure of playing with him again on day 2 and getting his advise.  I really do need to apply it though :o).  He really is one of the nicest guys.

    Cant wait for Birmingham :o)

Not much to add really. Dublin is a brilliant place, it was great meeting some of the regs again as well as making some new friends.

Winning the SPT wasn't even Thewy's biggest piece of rungood in Dublin. He staked me 50% to late reg into a live turboment full of good players (and Tikay) and somehow he got a return. The man is truly blessed and a total gent.

Amazing weekend with great people, couldn't have asked for much more from my first SPT.Will not be my last.Too many people to mention but the regs could not have been any nicer to myself or the other half.Blown away by the whole thing.Hopefully Dublin will become a permenant stop on the SPT.My favourite quote of the weekend has to be "Pat your shoes are on fire".Made loads of new friends and hopefully will see them all again at an upcoming SPT leg.

    Regards

    Pat

Had a great time, disappointed with missing out on FT but cant say I played a hand badly. My luck ran out at the wrong time. Really happy with result for my first major tournament.

Great to finally put some names to faces, and Irene is nuts, really made everyone welcome though. Going down to this I said it would be my only one, but now I know I will definitely be back in the future. Great event, well run by casino and sky, and thanks Tikay for reserving my seat.

And another quote pat " Your missus smells nice, not in a creepy way" lol

that's kind of you peter.  it was a brilliant performance, very well played.

i thought your chipstack arrangement was particularly good.  so much better than julian thew who seemed to put so little effort into building his stack.  no effort into stack design at all.  yours was geometric, beautiful, arranged like the north korean armed forces on parade.  julian, however, was beginning to build his representation of the great wall of china.

    congratulations.

Surely it's not how you stack 'em, but how many are in your stack!

Was great to meet you finally Pat!

Funnily enough, one of my favourite moments of the weekend was getting a tweet from you at some random time in the middle of the night just saying 'Make sure you watch your shoes. I've already lost one pair' ... cue much puzzled looks and drunken giggles from a packed Dublin bar.

    See you again
