should i just check the river

edited July 2013 in The Poker Clinic

knowing that he has checked the flop and then C/C the turn should I have just did a check myself on the river?
the reason I ask it is if I had QQ or JJ the chances are he only want to make a small bet if he wants me to call and also if he has KK or QQ he would be unlikely to bet now if he was so scared before.

I don't think it really matters what you do on the river mate, you have a less than pot size bet behind.

Opponents range is really narrow here. It's quite a chunky 3 bet pre. The 9 of spades on the turn is a total blank, he's not got a flush or a 9 here, never.

With the 3 bet pre, it's really set it up 2 play for stacks. He can easily check the flop i p, to get it in on later streets.

You are ahead of Kings, Queens , only hand beating you is aces, maybe tens at a push

River is a total blank, just ship the river.
