look on the Bright side you were able to get a split pot.
the headlike makes it sound like a bad beat.

    Why open shove?

Dont you know how to continue on an ace or king flop?
  • edited July 2013
Cos he has 12xBB. It's a pretty standard shove spot. Would you minraise 66 here? No you just ship your 12xBB, so you gotta do it with QQ too.

Yea, shove 66 is fine. But QQ has most hands dominated, so you gont "gotta do it" im all for a good raise then getting it in, barring an AKx flop

So what you're saying is 'its easy to put me on a range, cos if I have a hand I quite like but don't love like 66 or AQ, I'll shove, but if I have a monster like QQ+ I'll just minraise'?

Basically this. Gotta keep that range as balanced as possible. Raising utg out of a />13bb stack should look pretty suspicious too and gives people the chance to fold hands they might otherwise go to war with.

to throw a spanner in the works. could you min raise/fold marginal hands to look like monsters?
  • edited July 2013
Tbh, I don't mind minraise/folding from 13xBB against some opponents on Sky but I wouldn't be doing it UTG.
  • edited July 2013
Lambert, I understand what you are saying, and against a top quality field your quite right.

But generally I was saying, put in a smaller raise and get more value from marginals that hit a lower top pair, sure you will get stacked some of the time. but its just what I would rather do.

I mean, none of the hands that you are beating will fold, but many worse hands will call.

I doubt that many are paying attention, and the ones that do, well, you will generally know their names.

to add even more reason for the shove right away.
how are the rest of them chips going to get doubled if the flop was suited paired well connected or had K or A.

    Trade off  is
how much more action will you get with min raising
vs how many potential stackers will you let off the hook
don't think either route is inherently bad
but table reads would help a lot in deciding optimality

    as for OP
    sympathies
it is tedious to save the bad beat just to have the pot halved on the river
