Thoughts on my line here please

edited August 2013 in The Poker Clinic
Opponent is well known to me and very tricky, I make his opening incredibly wide from the cut-off and expect a c-bet on 90% of flops.  I also believe he's more than capable of 3 barrelling with air which is why I'm not sure about my c/raise on the flop.

    played fine imo

I think its fine.  Im almost never betting the river here.  You are only getting called by better on such a scary board IMO.  Youve got great showdown value so leave the river as played.

    Pre is fine.
Flop im fine with either calling or raising here.  Calling keeps the pot smaller and more controllable.  If you get shoved on youre hating life as you have dirty outs (as shown).  I probably prefer calling and id raise turn and see what happens.
As played turn bet is fine (surprised oppo didnt shove).

Think its all good tbh.  Maybe a more passive line would be better but im happy with either really.

Raise is good, or flat is fine too.

Turn bet good too. And yeah we've got to check the turn.

No idea what opponent was doing, if he's calling with 58suited and hit their flush, no idea why he never re-raised all in on the turn.

I would just bin 8 10 suited pre, unless i was the aggressor.

How does he react to 3bets? Decent spot to 3bet bluff pre vs the right opponents.

I think calling is way better then raising otf, if it was a cbet from the pfr then I think raising would of been fine but vs a donk out I don't think you can get him to fold enough of the time as he should have some equity donking into two players.

Fairly standard to continue on the turn after you raise the flop, getting value from 2 pairs, sets, AhQx, KhQx hands. Might bet a little less but np. Puke if he ships on you though.

On the river it'd be too thin to vbet and don't really think you need to turn your hand into a bluff so yea fine check back.

I actually think this is pretty much 100% spot on after some reflection.

    Thanks for the input :)

i much prefer raising the donk bet on that board than if it was the pre flop raiser who bet tbh

@OP yeah i think betting the river might be a bit thin so checking back is ok, not overly keen on the call pre though

prefer flat call on flop, we are drawing prety thin verus donking range - espeically when villian is not going to folding any of this range

    check back river is fine

definitely disagree with this part, depending on reads i think raising could be better than calling. fwiw i'd probably prefer calling readless

bb calls pre, donks flop - what are they folding

depends on what reads you got on villian donking range and maybe we can take it away on turn after raising flop but hero mentions the opener in op who folded so no reads then.....
