Hi Burns

Bad luck doesnt last forever - there can be 10's or even 100's of tourneys when it just doesn't go your way. I can tell you though in the long run it evens out. It can often feel like it doesn't though because the bad beats hurt alot more than the good luck feels good.

I recently suffered a big downswing -check my sharscope! I lost about £1.5k in 100ish games, and I'm normally a winning player. I was getting beats like yours above all the time and couldn't seem to get out of my rut. I looked into dealing with downswings and found a video on cardrunners which really helped - the advice that stuck out for me, and is probably relevant for you too was:

- its not luck, its you. Even if it IS luck, its still your fault. Think that the problem is you and use your downswing as a opportunity to look at what you are doing wrong. Analyse your hands and find leaks (there will be many probably) and focus on your decisions, not the results... Sift through your hand history and look at the big pots you were involved in and figure out how well you played each hand. if your not sure, get help on the forums with hands. you should start to build a picture of how you have been playing and be able to identify common costy mistakes.

- its just a game, your problems are insignificant compared to many peoples. lighten up a bit and it will help stop you tilting.

- If there were no bad beats, there would be hardly any bad players (because the would just lose all the time). Feel glad that you got your money in ahead and were beat, because it encourages the bad play, and in the long run you will profit from it even if you didnt this time.

If you do the above, when you do eventually have a good run you will be even better placed to take advantage and take a big score!

I really some of these are not down to luck but down to leaks or weak play, I think you should take advantage of the poker clinic and post some there. This is not a dig in anyway but you can probably take 25% of these hands out by playing them better.

heres what I would do differently...

J9 offsuit. Either raise or fold pre flop. if you do your either not in the hand or T8 folds when you raise. I really dont know why so many people insist on limping preflop, its very fishy.

KTs- you just called…you have < 10bb…shove or fold only

J5 - why bet so big on the flop? its dry flop and most hands that call you are beating you. If you bet the flop then why slow down on the turn, only to call an AI… thats a trappy play and you don't have a hand to trap with. if you shove they probably fold.

AA - why shove pre? all the other players have 20bb+, i doubt your getting called much. I'd much prefer a raise to about 1200… that way you might get some action from bounty chasers.

77 - you have <10bb, just shove. I'm not saying that AJ would have folded but its definitely more likely… they at least know there is no chance of you folding.

AJ - the call is borderline for me - you raised UTG and got shoved on. I'm very surprised you have the dominating hand. unless there is some table dynamics i don't know about, im probably folding.

most of these hands are 70/30…not that bad a beat. I haven't seen anything I don't see everyday when I play. The one outer you hit when you had Set v Set was sick tho.
