QQ with an A high flop - still struggling

edited August 2013 in The Poker Clinic
OK, so this time I tried checking the flop which he checked back. I led out on the turn (can I get away with just checking again?) which he called. should I b/f the river or give up here, or even call his river bet. it's the 4k BH by the way.

my rationale for gining up was that he called a big 3bet pre, so he must have a big pair or Ax, and by the river everything had got there. even if he had peeled with KQs.

I prefer a bigger 3 bet as out of position pre and definitely c-betting the flop around 60%-70% of pot, if called I would close down on that turn.

As played I don't like the delayed c-bet as you are out of position and the turn brings to many hands into play and you will have to act first on the river. He is calling the turn with the K,Q or J of clubs to get 4 to the flush quite often but also knowing if you check the river he can bet. As played check fold the river, bet folding is pointless IMO as you will have to bet big to remove him from an ACE and he may just call anyway.

That 3bet is not that big, its 2.5x the initial raise. Id say standard 3betting sizes are 2.5x the raise IP and 3x the raise OP. in this case, big would be something like 1750.

dont like the lead on the turn, other than that seems fine
