When to stop playing?

Kind of opposite to liamboi's thread.  But it's an interesting question.

When sat down on cash and you're having a decent run, when do you stop playing?  Do you stop when you reach a specific target? When the cards may start to go against you?  When you're tired?  Or do you keep playing until you go bust like me? lol.

As an MTT player I struggle to walk away when im up, as for me the chip lead = dominance.  You can boss people off pots.  Cash is so much different as people arent forced into playing average hands as everyone is always so deep.  Ergo... when I do go up and try and boss people around, I tend to find myself walking into the nuts and ultimately losing.  Definitely not used to just walking away when I want - usually theres a definitive end to my session in MTTs... and im dragging the habit across to cash.

What's everyones thoughts?

if im crushing on the table i usually come of when i lose a biggish pot if that dnt come just come of when ya feel tired or bored

If you're feeling and playing well, regardless of if its a winning or losing session, you should plough on if you can. Sometimes though I do get a sense of the tide beginning to turn (when I've been running well) and thats when I might call it a day. If you're on a good table and that breaks up, that can throw a spanner in the cash session works too.

Try and move away from thinking of poker as daily sessions.

Poker is one long session thats lasts years, with gaps for eating/sleeping etc etc

Have a break from this long term session when you are tired/tilted/bored/tables are too tight or anything that takes it from +ve outlook to neutral or -ve.

There is just no long term logic to banking profits or cutting losses as long as you are still playing your A game & distraction free at that given moment in time. Its just you getting psyched out.

Because on an almost daily basis, I load up x amount of tables, play for x amount of hours, then close said tables. I call these my daily sessions, believe it or not.

Rinse and repeat.
