The metro is train that circles around newcastle and surrording areas. You will go to main station from glasgow but you can take the metro from the main station to get closer to your hotel depending on how far your hotel is from the main station.

Metro Centre in shopping, this is not referring to that.

The Metro is the underground in Tyne & Wear. Newcastle Central is the only train station in Newcastle. The Metro bit is referring to the Metro (Underground) station which is also within Central Station (underneath it in fact!). 

Therefore, the answer is they're the same! If there's a price diff, maybe booking to go to the Metro station includes a pass to use the Metro (which u won't need) so book to the train station

I arrive at Central Station at 2pm tomorrow - I haven't spent more than a few hours in Newcastle before, so I figured my phone would take me the rest of the way to my accommodation.

never thought of using ma phone m8..thought this was the place to help each other..never mind hope we are at the same table and you can use your phone to phone for a taxi home (--)...nice to be nice.......
