The 'not so' Magnificent 7......... (7.30 timed)

edited September 2013 in Poker Chat

Why has the gntee on the 7.30 timed mtt been reduced from 1k to £500?

I played it 4 days ago and it got 47 runners.

I played it 2 days ago and it got 53 runners.

@ £20 a man this wud have given prize pools of £960 and £1,060.

£500 gtd = 25 runners to hit the target.

Why such a drastic drop?

Why not keep the faith with what should be a good tournament, delete some of the rubbish glorified sngs around it, which somehow find their way in to the MTT lobby, and let the Timed MTT come good?

Fully understand the drop from an unrealistic 2k to 1k gtd after its first few nights.

But recently it's been doing pretty well!!!!!!!

    Hi,

Those prizepools were substantial yet unfortunately there are many other days that has not hit, in some cases by a fair margin. There simply hasn't been enough interest in this tournament to currently maintain a £1,000 GTD.

We are looking to raise the guarantee again at soonest possible occassion, if the event picks up and proves that there is interest for it as we do enjoy putting timed tournaments out there and think they are a great addition into the schedule.

    Cheers.

    SkyPeter.

In the Mtt lobby on here there are 10 NL Holdem tournaments starting between 7pm and 7-05pm.

There are 966 people currently logged in on sky.

In the MTT lobby on a rival site there there are 4 NL Holdem tournaments starting between 7pm and 7.05pm.

There are 141,438 people online over there.

It really isn't difficult to understand why these mtts consistently fail.

Could u not drop it to £900 gtd? it's nearly there!!!! You don't have to give up on it altogether, which is what you've pretty much done by making it 500 gtd.

It's hit 960 and 1,060 in 2 of the last 4 runnings, I'm sure it wasn't much below that last night either.

similar points have been raised for as long as i can remember

for some reason Sky seem, as usual, too ignorant to listen

please just get one of the sponsored pro's to look at the schedule, it really shouldn't take long to sort

We are in the later stages of a full review of the tournament schedule and have taken on board your comments, the volume of tournaments and saturation of satellites is clearly something we are aware of and will address.  It’s a delicate job to get the right balance of buy-ins, formats and structures, particularly given we have a very polarised peak period (7pm – 11pm) as a UK focused poker room and such a broad range of customers with very different needs. It’s a also a significant piece of work to implement big schedule changes so please bear with us, but you should see improvements over the next few weeks which will set us well for continuous improvement of the schedule as we approach the busier time of the year.

In the case of any individual tournament which has its guarantee reduced, such as the timed tournament tonight, it can be the result of a number of external factors (e.g. Manchester United on terrestrial TV tonight)  which we know from experience will affect us.

It doesn’t mean that this guarantee won’t go back up in the near future, in fact you can expect the majority of guarantees to steadily increase over the next 3 months, but we will always take action where required in specific cases.

    Best Wishes

    10th Sept 63 runner
    11th sept 72 runners
    12th sept 71 runners
    13th sept 47 runners
    14th sept 43 runners
    15th sept 53 runners
    16th sept 41 runners

There is clearly a lot of interest in this MTT

Instead of assuming it isn't wanted because the numbers dnt meet what you expect, please look at the poor MTTs in the lobby which surround it & take players away from this 1 and into other ones.

Dropping it to a 25runner gntee is just crazy btw, it's smashing 25.

Odds on tonight gets much less than 41.

Would this be a good time to mention the 9.30pm BH, which smashed its guarantee every night, being dropped from the schedule?

This is a very good point. It used to regularly get 220+ runners, don't think I ever saw it not get at least 200. And now it's disappeared. Bizarre.

Even more of a horror show is the 10pm timed cash game.

Honestly,  what were they thinking ?
These games were never ever popular, and always only just got the runners to meet the gurantee (didn't even meet the gurantee on many many occasions)

Don't know who makes these tragic decisions but something needs to be done.

Sit n go's have already died on Sky,  lets home MTT's dont go the same way.

Its a viscious cycle.  If you drop the guarentee less people will play.... resulting in sky wanting to drop the guarentee again.

Sky should be increasing guarentees to attract more people to play and as an advertisement for those that don't already play on the site.

Makes no sense what they are doing.

Keep going like this and there won't be any guarentees... then why would anyone want to play on the site?

Guarantees go up and down throughout the year because of seasonality, promotions, events etc. We also make adjustiments according to popularity of specific tournaments and when we are making changes to the schedule. It happens on Sky Poker just as it does on any other poker site.
