Early stages of Orfy. River decision.

edited October 2013 in The Poker Clinic
Oppo is unknown to me. Still early levels so no real reads either. The raise on the flop could be a hand that has me in serious trouble but could just as easily be a draw so I decide to see a turn card. On the turn I feel my hand is too strong to fold (should I shove here rather than call?). The river is a tough spot.....what should I do?? How is my play on earlier streets?? Advice please.

    Don't like the call

what made you disbelieve the check raise on the flop?

you improve on the turn - but are still behind if villain has the str8 or flush

If we don't believe villain has it I would prefer the shove on the turn to get rid of any Adx hands or at least make them pay to call. If he calls with made flush at least you have outs.

river shove have to put villain on flush - fold.

I just find the straight to be very unlikely here, ofc I know it can't be ruled but I was thinking more along the lines of a Ad hand or a set. The flopped flush is always there too. Im not playing well of late!!!

The mistake is on the turn here though yeah? Fold or shove are the only options?

Not worried about a straight. He could've flopped the flush, he could also hold the A7 with the A of diamonds and wants to plough the chips in. Flopped flushes are pretty rare, so although we can't discount it, I'd lean more towards a set. People like to see flops with the small/medium PP's in a deep stack comp, so that cold call can certainly be 44 66 or 77.

I ship that turn. If he's flopped it, then so be it but we have outs. If he's flopped a set, another diamond on the river kills your action. And if he has the A of diamonds, make him pay!

Ship the turn, or fold the flop after reraise, are the only options for me

Starting to commit a lot of chips with just an overpair on flop and have given villain the lead on the betting with the call.

It's a deep stack so don't need to get too busy early on with an overpair after C/R

On turn it's a ship with the over set.

Overpair with a limp caller and a BB caller is a tough spot on a wet board

Call flop/call this turn/call this river.

    Or fold flop.

Dnt know why we'd shove the turn?

Last thing we want to do is let him get away from 75, 65, A7, 67 etc.

I'd probably just fold the flop in this comp tho.
