All For a Good Cause...

edited December 2013 in Poker Chat

Hi folks,

At 11am on Saturday the 14th of December, Larson7 and I will begin a 24-hour online poker marathon, here on Sky. Not because we enjoy the game (although we do), or because we’re silly (although we probably are), but for the good people at Cancer Research UK. This disease will unfortunately touch most of us in one way or another, at some point in our lives, and some of you may even be dealing with it right now. It is however, a disease we can beat, but we can only do so with your help.

We will be sitting at a 2p/4p table for the duration of this challenge and would like to encourage others to join us on the felt – to play a few hands, or even just to offer encouragement from the rail and make sure we stay awake! Afterwards, we will probably both be so sick of getting it in good and being sucked out on, that neither of us will want to see another poker hand for a while, so it may be some time before you see either of us back on the tables!

I have set up a JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/pokerthon, for anyone who wishes to contribute to the cause, or if you just want to be nosey and see how we are currently doing against our target. Ambitious? Sure. But it’s amazing what you can achieve with threats of violence and blackmail :)

As well as the money we hope to raise via family/friends/etc, we hope to be able to count on the full support of the community here at Sky Poker. We both understand and acknowledge that this is the run up to Christmas, and that money is particularly tight at this time of year, but we would very much appreciate whatever you could spare for this worthy cause. Bink a cash in a tournament? Maybe you could throw us a few quid. Win a big pot at your high stakes table? One percent ought to cover it. Take down the SPT in Nottingham? Well, perhaps you could chuck us a fifty.

For those of you who do wish to contribute, thank you very much. These things are so much easier with people like you.

Thanks for reading, and good luck on the tables.
