Computer (Sky poker!) help

Hey!

Just made a post and it didn't post lol

This morning I knocked some milk over and some got on my laptop and now it's not working!

It won't charge or nothing, no idea if its to do with the milk or its just knackered it's quite old.

Was thinking about getting a new laptop.

Any recommendations? And Cost of a reasonable one?

Doesn't have to do anything special, just as long as it's decent for playing poker on.

No idea what it would cost, but don't mind spending £300-400 pound on it.

Went over to curries, prices were 300-700.

Any idea of a good laptop for playing poker on? What specs to look out for?

No idea about megabytes and ram, might give dell a try.

I made the big mistake of spilling half a glass of wine slap bang on my laptop keyboard a few weeks ago and it survived but only just. Some things will not work anymore like the printer and DVD player but it still does the basic internet stuff. I normally get the cheapest Dell laptop as they are normally good enough for me but they look a bit poor quality these days so when i get a new one when this one finally packs in i might spend a little more. For £500 you should get something decent, it is worth spending a little of your time shopping around i think.

Should be fine. Cannot offer any advice on multi-tabling sorry, i find it hard enough on one table!.

Don't know alot about laptops but £499 for i3 720p screen  no graphics card seems alot.

As I say don't know lap tops but this seems reasonable but will let others decide.

If you want a dell laptop you might be better of going onto the DELL site and doing your own spec. Not sure what else you need the lappie for but I much prefer to play on a desktop.

Currys do refurbed laptops if you want something that doesnt cost the earth.

Tried using power cable in different sockets, nothing at all!

Didn't think the milk would cause much damage cause it was hardly any, but it's the only explanation.

Tried taking the battery out 2 and putting it back in again nothing.

lol turns out it's prob the mother board, and they say it's so old they don't have em in stock anyway, looks like a new laptop

My laptop cost like £300ish brand new (it's Toshiba), that was about 2+ years ago now and can easily run 6-7 tables. My specs are....

i3  - 2.53GHz processor
4GB of RAM

and it runs 64bit Windows 7

Just found this in <1 min but sure you could do better with a little more time. There's deffo no point spending tons of money on a laptop if it's mostly just for poker

Larson have a word with our very own jjjach. He recently bought a refurb from Currys with a very good spec and also got £100 cash back. He may be on FB sometime tonight or railing myself, steelrod and even you or other TPTers.

I wouldnt worry about ure effing computer !! when sky has enuff of u winning they simply ban accounts/!

They pay out but thier buisness is a sham, highly manipulated by individuals who pretend to know a thing aabout poker when in fact all they were was lackies for a moot broadcasting service .In fact lets just go the whole hog and say someone wanted ljammyjamesl to win in the ukops main event 2 years ago..so much so they rigged it for him to win at all costs.

He had some miraculous escape from pocket aces when he should have lost his entire stack .!  game over sky

You can cheat and pretend your software is legitimate but its not even licensed let alone governed the same way as pokerstars is...

Do I hate the people in charge of it all ,no not really I dont hate them but I despise the way they booted my hubby out and reaaly hate the fact they banned him because he was a winning player and knew how to win large amounts on the site .

not forgetting 100 pound pots in cash games where someone flicks the switch and my hubby gets timed out and discconnects. so many many shady goings on ,someone had to be accountable and thats fact.

Hi LARSON7 Check out your local computer repair shops,they have some good offers on reconditioned computers,they will bring it round to you and set it up the way you would like to use it.My husband did buy a new lap top from currys about 3 years ago it,s an ACER.And even now he still cannot work the thing correct.

They look pretty minted.

Just need to decide the specs i'm looking for, whether to get 1 off the shelf or custom made one.

Not sure what screen size 14 inch or 15.5 inch. Any thoughts?

Not sure how many tables you play but screen resolution plays a major part.

Possibly FULL HD if you can afford it would be good and maybe a dedicated graphics card.

The higher res the better especially if you aren't keen on Miniview. Set your res to the highest available to shrink full tables, although with the resizable tables coming this doesn't matter as much. 1 1/2 inches doesn't sound a lot  (oooer missus) but I would go for the larger screen.
