Have I just been robbed on Omaha???

Can someone help me out as I really dont think I should have lost the hand below. I'm quite new to omaha but I'm still pretty sure a straight beats a pair doesn't it?

Have I got it completely wrong, surely I had a straight (4,5,6,7,8) which should beat his pair.

you can only use 2 of your 4 hole cards ricky, it is a bit confusing to be honest

Hi Ricky,

No - I'm afraid you did NOT have the Straight.

The first rule of Omaha is that you MUST use 2 cards from your hand - not 1, not 3 - EXACTLY 2.

There is an "Omaha - Hints & Tips for Beginners" Thread somewhere, I'll find it for you & put up a Link.

I'm afraid you had "no hand".

Actually unlucky there Ricky, even though you have no hand, this perfectly illsutrates Omaha as a whole, as you have got it all in on a flip. Therefore it was the right move to get all your money in on the flop.

Yes - a beautiful Flop for your hand - the right end of the straight draw, with straight extensions all the way up.

it will also tell you yor hand strenth on the table so after the river you will be able to see if you have str8 etc

DaveyZZ makes a good point there.

If you enable "SHOW HAND DESCRIPTIONS" (in Options) then you can SEE exactly what your hand is. It really helps, especially if you are not used to Omaha. Also, use the Four Colour Deck (also available via the Options Tab).
