I disagree, 

People would have to openly look for a diary

Diaries would become compettiive for reads

I do as do many others . Punters Corner or "Fancy a bet" as its now known has some great threads if your into gambling on other games or sports rather than just poker. The rail also has some fun topics and football corner often worth a read

Thats one of the reasons i put my diary in the Shed or the Rail as its known by now as i know its not eveyones cup of tea and as i udate quite often it would rarely be off the front page in GPC
