Report Abuse Button (FAO Sky)

edited December 2013 in Poker Chat
Wasn't sure which thread to post this topic in; half suggestion and half complaint.

We really need a report abuse button at the tables for when the following situation happens:

I expect Sky will give this player a warning of sorts?

Agreed, and it doesn't particularly bother me - I'm not that sensitive. However, some people are and things like this should be stamped out for them. I'm not too fussed about this player to be honest, my main concern is the lack of a report abuse button.

    Hi Peter,

Just contact Customer Care if you see offensive chat, please. That, in effect, is the "Abuse Button".

Plesase don't "quote" this sort of stuff on the Community, as it canot be seen in context. I am NOT suggesting this is the case, not at all, but in some instances, there is history, a backstory, or "goading", & when seen out of context, it can be misleading or damaging.

    Thanks.

Fair enough, my "suggestion" was just that it would be easier to have a report abuse button on the table which sends the chat to Sky Poker for analysis.

Okay, that's understandable. Won't post things like this on the forum again. Although I do feel like I should point out that it was Sky who approved the picture to be posted ..

If i had a penny for every time i was offended by chat abuse last night, i`d have £4.32.

Grow a pair or turn chat off. Pretty simple really.

Or are you one of the ` i might miss something if i turn chat off ` people?

Thanks Peter, I just feel a "Report Abuse" button might be overly used, & they'd need a staff of dozens to cope with all the complaints.

I agree as to the photo being approved, to be honest, that muchly surprised me, too, & maybe I am completely wrong in my personal view, but I don't have any say in such matters. Just as well, I'd say......;)

    Have a great weekend bud.

That's a good point about it being overused and requiring a lot of staff. The problem with the current system is that it requires quite a lot of effort and the majority of players would probably just rather "let it go" than report people, thus allowing the offenders to get away without penalty.

Haha, if you were in charge of the forum pretty much all the regulars would be banned for calling you teacake! :p

Have a good weekend also, I'll be playing a lot to benefit from the double reward points on SNG's and also to take advantage of the good run I'm currently on :-)

Exactly. Now turn that upside down, Monger style, if such a button existed, & it were no effort to do, can you imagine how many spurious reports there would be?

We see a lot of silly niggly arguments between poker players, & such a facility would be a handy tool for them.

Good luck with the rest of Double Rewards!

Yep, you're right - I now agree that a report abuse button probably wouldn't be too effective because it would receive so many complaints. However the current system also isn't great. Ideally we need something inbetween the two systems ... what that is though, I don't know.

Thanks! I've managed to turn £10 into £210 in the last 47 days (not sure if you're following my diary) so I'm quite happy at the moment :-)

    Wonderful.

And just how good does that make you feel?! Bet you can't wait to log on each day, & start each session.

What a great game poker is.

To be honest, if being called a knobhead offends you then you need to take a reality check.

Are you a Knobhead? I assume you're not, then ignore it. Only a genuine knobhead would care if some mentally redundant morron called them a knobhead. I would just thank them for their money and carry on.

    From above:

"it doesn't particularly bother me - I'm not that sensitive. However, some people are and things like this should be stamped out for them. I'm not too fussed about this player to be honest, my main concern is the lack of a report abuse button."

Sadly I couldn't thank him for his money as he beat me -.-

Well, if being called a knobhead offends, then avoid mid-high stakes live casino poker. You'll be ripped to shreds.

In the best part of 20 years playing Live Poker, including reasonably big cash games, & the biggest Tourneys, the world over, I've never once been verbally flamed or abused. Face to face, folks are not quite so brave. Can't say I've ever seen others abused in B & M poker, either, it is extremely rare. Online, hidden behind an alias, it is so much easier.

It is not necessary in a civilised world, & not good for the game.

My opinion on this is I love it all... Cant beat someone calling you a knob head at the tables! Its basically like cricket sledging! I think Unless your being racist or extreme like telling someone to die I think its all ok.

People have the option to turn the chat box off or not look at it and I think an abuse button like stated above would create a lot of nonsense reports...

Tikay I don't know what Casinos you go to but you want to come and play in Manchester... None stop ribbing :)

    Ha!

Have played all the Manchester venues, the lads are great craic. "ribbing"? Tons of it, we enjoy ribbing, but ribbing is humour-based, & is very different to online abuse. Face to face makes all the difference.
