after 2 premium pairs at the very start which saw folds on the flop it started to look as though my hands would never come.
so much so that i decided to try a positional play hand.
having did a 3bet pre my hand to most would probably now look to contain 2 broardway cards or a premium pair the with the flop being K high i decide to try a cbet and it got called.
having been called on the flop and now that it was getting more draw heavy i went for the check on the turn to rep say QQ or JJ.
then when the J came on the river i sensed what was the perfect bluff and tried representing the Q which worked.

my question is if i were to do this more frequently when on the button providing i know that he is a tight one post flop is it a good way to get chips when hands just don't seem to be coming?

Seems like a plan when in position, but you could also get trapped by a sneaky slow player who has made the hand you are repping. If you know the oppo for sure, that is fine but some people do change their way of palying from day to day-or there is no real pattern to how they play.

Few points...

1) Don't  do things based on previous hands that have happened (except obv making decisions based on reads). If it's a good spot to 3bet A8o on the button then it's a good spot regardless of whether we're crushing the tourney and running like god, or we're missing every flop.

2) Big mistake people make is trying to narrow villian's range to very very few hands which we can't normally do. Don't try to narrow your own perceived range (what you rep) too much in your own head. For instance, sure you could have QQ/JJ by checking the turn, but you could equally just have AQ or JTs or LOTS of other hands.

The idea is good but imo your bet sizing is abit small otf. I doubt you bet your premiums smaller than the intial raise that you made? Prefer something around 700 on the flop. Betting the river when checked to here is also good as its hard to get called by 2 pr or less.
