was i right to call the flop?

the villain himself is a reg to nl10. that is good with hand selection preflop and the aggression post flop will include bluffs.

with the flop not showing A or K i decided to call knowing JJ and AK were both behind. the reason i didn't raise was i thought their wouldn't be much chance of AK calling now so I'm left with AA KK or JJ.

when i checked the turn i was again to concerned about AA KK and now JJ so i decided to just check call.

The reason i was thinking of check calling is he'll probably know that I'm not holding AA or KK, as they are in preflop most times. knowing that AK is still possible he could force me off that hand now and with QQ he knows that their is still two overcards so as well as JJ KK and AA their is also AK.

this is where my question comes in, because with these villians, i know they aren't going to be as tight with their bets as the passive type are but unlike the maniacs he is better with hand selection preflop. so i know here it's with either AKo AKs AQs AA KK QQ or JJ.

on the flop I'm still ahead of AKs AKo AQs JJ but having called the flop i now made things worst for myself with JJ going ahead and now a second AKs having more outs it made my donk bet feel too risky to do so i just check called and even check calling I'm thinking was wrong and maybe i should have just check folded.

Depends which reg it is, some we can fold pre to the 4bet.

either way think we can fold flop, doubt a reg ever has AK with that sizing, almost certainly AA/KK and scared of the board unless its AKss and he really wants the money in on the flop where his equity is best. I prob woyldnt even include JJ in most peoples 4bet range, but if he does we can't even beat that by the turn. 

In short, against some fold pre, against most fold flop, against all fold turn

I'm not sure about the 'aces and kings are usually all in pre-flop' bit. Calling the three-bet pre is a tactic often used to make your cards seem weaker than they are. I would still be wary - as the villain - that you could have aces or kings here.

Pretty sure we need to fold the turn here.

Seems a pretty bad idea to leave yourself £9 behind on the flop with £17 in the pot.  Flop must be time to decide whether your hand's best,
