Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
Hi Tikay.
Many thanks for responding to my recent rant/literary tilt in the chat rooms. Being a low volume small stake player I find it difficult to improve my knowledge and ability to be able to play this wonderful game at the same level as some. However being a fan of tasteless ties and fonts of useless information I decided that you were to be my role model in the world of Skypoker. Some would call me sad , others a mere stalker. Bearing this in mind I decided to enter my local pub poker league sponsored by somebody I`ve never heard of (Redtooth). Having never seen a real poker table before let alone played at one I was a bit dubious but hey whats to be lost. To date I am at present top dog being called `the dark horse` and `Mr consistency` having never won a game but always finishing in the top half of the final table of 7 or 8.
Next Monday given a good run I should qualify for the regional finals where there are some small amounts of fame and cash up for grabs. This has all come about due to the good advise given by yourself and the lesser minions at Skypoker (Orford,Spittles,Channing etc).
If I were to qualify for the regionals it would be one of the best days of my life (on a par with my wedding day) with all thanks to nobody else but yourself and the team at Skypoker for giving me the mindset and confidence to do it in the first place. I will keep you posted.
Many thanks to all at Skypoker
Very best regards
Mark

It's a nicely structured league, but I found the competition was usually pretty soft. Still, some of the prizes Redtooth offer are worth the punt.
Tasteless ties? Useless information? Are you confusing me with someone else?
The very best of luck in your Poker League.
These are great fun, & a wonderful way to begin the poker journey. I still attend, twice every year, the Finals of a Southern Counties Pub League, usually held at Hove Greyhound Stadium, or Brighton RaceCourse, & I present the Prizes, help with the Charity Auctions, & that sort of thing. It's real "back to basics" stuff for me, & it's such a joy to see people really enjoying their poker. As far as "Live" Poker is concerned, your next step should be to consider playing some APAT Events. I had to retire my Chairman's Role there recently due to a conflict of interest with the Sponsors, but I still believe it is a wonderful organisation. Best stick to Sky Poker for your Online Poker though.
Good luck, & let us know how you get on, please.
Last game next Monday - must pull my socks up
i agree with slipwater its usually soft but obv depends who ya playings its pub standard when i played was 5k starting stack and blinds start 25/50 with a 15 min blinds found it bit of a cr ap shoot but a gd experience playing some live poker
The guy who won the whole thing in vegas the other year actually played at the same pub league as me.
Good luck mate.
Ended up 3rd 30 pts behind winner. grinding playoff to go through but hey next league starts Monday
My minions (the Company cats) said "well done Mr Reeves".
I find that the old boy and his underlings seldom get the praise they deserve. I know that this is somewhat compensated for by the tens of thousands they are paid each week by Sky (only bettered by premier league footballers I hear) but it is nice to see them get some credit.
Well done and good luck on your poker ventures.
Mark
Good luck in Portsmouth, Mr Reeves!
