Message for Tikay

edited March 2014 in Poker Chat
Hi Tikay.
Many thanks for responding to my recent rant/literary tilt in the chat rooms. Being a low volume small stake player I find it difficult to improve my knowledge and ability to be able to play this wonderful game at the same level as some. However being a fan of tasteless ties and fonts of useless information I decided that you were to be my role model in the world of Skypoker. Some would call me sad , others a mere stalker. Bearing this in mind I decided to enter my local pub poker league sponsored by somebody I`ve never heard of (Redtooth). Having never seen a real poker table before let alone played at one I was a bit dubious but hey whats to be lost. To date I am at present top dog being called `the dark horse` and `Mr consistency` having never won a game but always finishing in the top half of the final table of 7 or 8.
Next Monday given a good run I should qualify for the regional finals where there are some small amounts of fame and cash up for grabs. This has all come about due to the good advise given by yourself and the lesser minions at Skypoker (Orford,Spittles,Channing etc).
If I were to qualify for the regionals it would be one of the best days of my life (on a par with my wedding day) with all thanks to nobody else but yourself and the team at Skypoker for giving me the mindset and confidence to do it in the first place. I will keep you posted.

Many thanks to all at  Skypoker

Very best regards

Mark

Good luck Mark, hope you make it through.

I started my first ever live poker games playing 2 seasons with redtooth. I really enjoyed it and think it is a great structure and it gave me the confidence to go on to play many other live venues.

    Cheers

    Ian

    "Lesser minions"? How dare you!

Thanks for giving me top billing over the other minions though- Spittles, Channing, etc. I'll take my compliments where I can.

    Good luck Mark!

I played with Redtooth for one full season and managed to win it. I then came 8th in the Regional Finals (with the top three going onto the Nationals). After that the pub I played for shut down, so I will forever be the reigning Charlotte Bar Poker Champion ;)

It's a nicely structured league, but I found the competition was usually pretty soft. Still, some of the prizes Redtooth offer are worth the punt.

Thanks Mark, & apologies for the delay in replying, I've been working away for a few days.

Tasteless ties? Useless information? Are you confusing me with someone else?

The very best of luck in your Poker League.

These are great fun, & a wonderful way to begin the poker journey. I still attend, twice every year, the Finals of a Southern Counties Pub League, usually held at Hove Greyhound Stadium, or Brighton RaceCourse, & I present the Prizes, help with the Charity Auctions, & that sort of thing. It's real "back to basics" stuff for me, & it's such a joy to see people really enjoying their poker. As far as "Live" Poker is concerned, your next step should be to consider playing some APAT Events. I had to retire my Chairman's Role there recently due to a conflict of interest with the Sponsors, but I still believe it is a wonderful organisation. Best stick to Sky Poker for your Online Poker though. ;)

Good luck, & let us know how you get on, please.

Redtooth poker was brilliant and a huge part in me getting so interested in poker.

The guy who won the whole thing in vegas the other year actually played at the same pub league as me.

Well played so far and a big well done for throwing some praise in the direction of Tikay and his minions.

I find that the old boy and his underlings seldom get the praise they deserve. I know that this is somewhat compensated for by the tens of thousands they are paid each week by Sky (only bettered by premier league footballers I hear) but it is nice to see them get some credit.

Well done and good luck on your poker ventures.

Since a certain Mr Orford was my Yellow team Captain recently could he provide me with a Sky Poker T shirt with the words NOVICE and CAPTAINED BY RICHARD ORFORD printed on the back that I can proudly display!! Out of his own bulging pocket of course lest he slip down the minion list to below a certain Mr. Citrone

GL in the Regionals, interesting to read how many people got started in exactly the same way as you and me playing a local pub league.

I`ll assume tightwad Orford was too brassic to dip his hand in his bulging pocket for a £2.99 TShirt - many thanks...
