Most satisfying tournament win

edited February 2014 in Poker Chat
There was a nice post from stuarty117 here which said how happy he was to win a Bounty Hunter recently after normally grinding the DYMs. It's a lovely feeling when you close a tournament out, isn't it? With the UKPC underway, I wondered....

Which tournament victory has given you the most satisfaction to date and why?

Oh, and in before Orford and the £2.20 @ 2.20 Deepstack brag...

for me it has to be one of the MPP tournaments at Dusk Til Dawn last Feb, for 3 reasons

    1. Insanely stacked field for a  £220 (max) tourney - Roberto Romanello and all his poker buddies turned up (The MPP idea was his: MPP = Multi Prize Pool). Matt Perrins (2 WSOP Bracelets) and Ben Vinson (£600k+ in live earnings) were also on the Final Table.

    2. My biggest ever score

    3. After building up a massive stack in the early to mid stages, I got coolered with A7 vs AK on a AA7xK board vs another big stack and was down to about 20bb about half way through. I was happy with the way I kept my composure and managed to grind my stack back up.

For me it was my first ever MTT win; a 991 runner freeroll here on Sky when I was still very new to poker.

At the time I mainly played £1.15 DYMs trying to win 85p per game, so the £44 first prize felt absolutely huge, I was so pleased I felt like I was walking on air for days. I've no idea how I did it, must have run like god as I had absolutely no knowledge of MTT strategy.

That win gave me encouraged me to start entering more MTTs. I enjoyed them so much they soon became my main game. Since that first freeroll bink I've won another 157 MTTs here on Sky Poker. I'll never get tired of that buzz you get when you take one down, it's the best feeling in poker imo.

Close second was another huge slice of beginners luck; chopping equally three ways in my first ever live MTT, a £25 + optional one rebuy tourney in the G Casino in Blackpool. I entered on a whim when I took my kids up there for the weekend. I'd never played live poker before, so was a clumsy newbie with no absolutely no idea of live etiquette. When I doubled with K9o /> QJs aipf at 2-30am all three stacks were pretty much level, blinds were huge so I was very happy to take the deal.

After grinding £10 into £110 over 2012 I decided to spend the excess over £100 on a few bigger tournaments. One of these was a mini Ukops BH with a big guarantee.

I started playing after a 12 hour shift at work at 8.30pm....not realising that the deepstack and long clock on the tourny meant that I would not be finished playing until 3am. I had to be leaving for work and another 12 hour shift at 7am.

I chipped up nicely and when I hit the final table I decided that top spot was mine. There was a massive £800 extra for 1st place and I managed to win and bank around £1600, which paid off a lot of credit card debt and enabled me to attend my freind's wedding in Switzerland.

Needless to say, I could not sleep and had to get up and withdraw the money from my sky account before returning to bed. I didnt feel tired at all the next day at work - in fact I was walking on sunshine all day. Fantastic feeling!

The first ever Sky Poker Tour side event in Leeds.

My first ever shot at the 2.20 Deepstack.

Won the main a couple of years back and came 2nd a few months later.

Won the Monday night MTT on my first ever visit to Luton G-Casino.

Will win the main and mini tonight.

Er, er...ok, stay with me, I know there must be more.....

I think it used to be the former, but now has to be the latter! :))))* haha!

That's my closed braket key that'll need replacing every 3 weeks, as well as my call button.

    *Modest estimate.

winning my first TSP classic for £600+ was a massive confidence turning point for me, other than thatit would be SPT Glasgow.

Last nights DTD!!  Especially as at one stage I was 55/55 in DTD1 AND 76/77 in DTD2!!!! GREAT feeling to appear in GaryQQQ's lists twice in the one night.  ;-)

Wednesday rebuy main back in August/September. I held quite a sizeable lead 4 handed, but had Offshoot to contend with (wasn't overly familiar with the other 2 players). I knew I had to bust him and soon if I wanted to take the tourney down. Thankfully I did just that, and managed to close it out fairly comfortably.

Rebuy always seems to have a strong field heading into the business end, so was very happy to bink it.

55p heads up game the guy was away i did fisty pump the air like

Had wins in each of the DTD games (1,2 and 3) over the last year or so. Most satisfying because of the standard of the fields. They wern,t my biggest wins but for a £1 or £2 game the standard is always very high.

A close 2nd would be winning one of the Bankbuster promo tournaments as it was a PLO game with over 200 runners

EDIT : remembered from Mewillows post i also won the TSP classic one night and had it shown on TV with Orford and Giddins when they used to have a 30 minute show - showing one of the TSP games from the previous week. Also knocked Orford out along the way. Did have it saved on Sky + but wiped it by accident

(Never won a Main Event. Hope to change that this year. That would be my highlight if i can make t happen)
