should i just fold these hands in the super and mega rollers?

edited March 2014 in The Poker Clinic
it's very early stages of the MTT and it wasn't long before i could see their was going to be lots of loose calls.

when the flop comes K the first thing that came to mind was would he fold or will he chase hands all the way and this villian it seems was a chaser and had A6.

should i fold them preflop and just wait for the blinds to increase?

Hand 1 - Ofc you should open! sick implied odds at this stage with hands like this. If I cbet, I prob go a bit bigger but it's fine. FWIW, remember if he is 'a chaser' and wants to call down with A6 on K82 when we have 77, that's good!

Hand 2 - I'd deffo defend my BB with 69s this deep but all depends on how confident you are postflop. You need to be good enough to get away from certain spots postflop.

Hand 3 - Flat or 3bet, either is fine.

Hand 4 - Flat is good here, it's a hand that is much better NOT to 3bet here. The A4s above which is basically an identical spot... A4s plays better in 3b pots whereas 79s doesn't play as well as A4s in 3b pots but plays very well in multi way pots so a flat is good.

Hand 5 - Iso bigger. I'd always be 3x'ing and then +1BB for every limper, so would be going 160 minimum here. Postflop played absolutely fine.

P.S. unlucky for getting Jamie Burland on your table lol.

the thing was i started to get frustrated because the times i was wanting calls what happens they fold and the times it was folded they decide to call.

could it be that i made it too obvious being too aggressive again with these two hands and that is why they folded?

sorry that i posted all these hands.

the main question was weather i was too loose or if i was being too aggressive post flop with the hands i want value from like the 1010 and 99
  • edited March 2014
I probably go a bit smaller on the flop with 99 just so we can get called by a wider range because while it's deffo a good spot to value bet, it is still relatively thin value.

The TT hand, we deffo shuoldn't be 4x'ing pre. There's no hand I'd 4x in an MTT unless I knew everyone was awful and calling too much and wouldn't notice any difference if I go 4x with say TT+ and AK but 3x with QJs. You haven't mentioned anything like that, so I'd assume 3x is better. Again, bet smaller on the flop, don't be scared of being outdrawn, we WANT draws to call. On this flop, it's pretty hard for people to connect, apart from FDs, it's unlikely people are gonna have many worse hands that they're willing to call an almost full pot bet with.
