does having the sky TV up increase the chance of a mistake or is it just me?

last thursday was a bad night
tonight has been the same.

normally when i play poker i will have some music in the background to keep me relaxed but on tuesdays thursdays and sundays i have the TV channel up and seem to have a habit of doing mistakes, weather that is because i'm keeping an eye out for any of my hands shown i don't know, just thought i'd ask if anyone else would say the same or if it's just me.

Any sort of TV can be a distraction. I,ve done it plenty of times watching 861 but its a dbl edged sword as your also learning at the same time .
Having said that a lot of my mistakes have come while i,ve been posting in to the show or other threads on the forum

i think im the opposite..

usually i like to have a gamble and call and play marginal hands out of position, but because i dont want to look like an idiot live on tv i try to play my "a" game incase my hands are shown!!

I really need to concentrate on my online game, as usually i got tv on in background, facebook, twitter and youtube on other pages.

I know my game is better than the rsults show as when i concentrate on the game only i run deep and feel i play much better!

sky+ it for me, should be concentrating on ur table not whats going on on the tv tables.

When I was staying back at home where we have sky I used to sit downstairs and play with sky on in the background. Don't think I ever had a good night. So now I stick to music/silence. Both work fine for me

Interesting question.

I realise I have a vested interest in bigging up the channel (!)  but I must say when I am playing at home in the main event, watching the show at the same time makes me really focus on the game as I want to try and make it on to the leaderboard on the TV, plus not make a fool of myself if a hand of mine is shown. 

Obv, the producer never shows my good hands. But that's a different story.

As well as the focus, it also enhances my enjoyment of the main as you feel connected to an experience being shared with lots of people across the UK i.e. a very 'live' event. Without the big TV event happening at the same time, it feels a lot quieter and more isolated playing an online MTT as opposed to playing in a live cardroom.

I really do think also that those paying attention can pick up information about their tablemates that can help you immediately. Your opponent may not have shown you their cards when you made the laydown, but we will! You can't get that live in-game info from your table anywhere else in the world playing poker.

Correct! And thanks Had there been a show on Saturday night for the Primo I probably would have had it on in the later stages to see if any of my luckbox hands were shown :P

I agree with this actually - its nice to have as background music and helps motivate me play well I think.

i do enjoy the show on at the same time, 

too be honest im not normally in the mains but enjoy interacting with the show, miby be on the mastercash games if im not in the mains.

although i do, i will not try anything silly at all tho just incase..... none of play has been on sky anyway even requested ones lol.   

i think the show is a great addition too playing at the same time and as im still learning everyday i think players like redmond scotty77 and mrstarch1 give out very very good advice all night and one of the reasons i will continue too watch the show while playing and also be asking plenty of questions on the live shows alot of the time. and evrytime i have very good feedback.

 A cement mixer is a shot drink. It often consists of:

1 part Bailey's Irish Cream (Other types of alcoholic Irish cream may be substituted.)

1 part Lime juice (lemon juice may be substituted)
