LIVE Poker and where to find it?

edited March 2014 in Poker Chat
All,
I've had my little dabble here & there with online poker and years ago I was aware that the odd pub near me held occasional night's (having seen it advertised when driving by or being there for live bands).

I want to know how I can find out if there is any pubs or clubs that are holding poker night's or even any tournament's near me (I Live in Harlow Essex,) that I can pop along to and if Im not feeling too overawed and the cost is low enough I may even enter.

However I do not know where to look. Could somebody please assist?

Thank You

Gary if you don't mind a little drive then there are 2 casinos in Luton, G and Genting. Both schedules are available online but I would recommend the Friday night tournament £40 plus juice and add on for £20 1st prize is usually about £1500 ish. Or you can get in a tournament for about £20 on one of the other days but the stacks are shallower. Sunday afternoon at 4pm is good as well, £50 for 20k stack usually about £1500 again for 1st. Nice casino and helpful staff as well.

There is a weekly tounament held at Harlow dog track every Monday night.

I have never been but know plenty of people that have and they say its a good structured tournament. Normally gets about 50 runners or so i believe and starts at 8.

I THOUGHT I had heard something about Harlow doggie's! Ain't got the fuel or cash to get down there tonight and a bit far to walk (nealy 3 miles away from my home address, and a physical dis-advanatage means it bit out of my range for walking!) However once I am back driving and been paid, I will definately consider checking out Hrlw Grayhounds!

To the guy who mentioned Luton, again it a little bit of a trek out for me and my little old car...combined with that the cost of entering the tournament's there are quite a bit above my budget...

However it's something I can consider when I will be a little better placed later this year/early next.

Thank you for the infomation supplied thus far.

    http://www.redtoothpoker.com/league.asp

use the pub poker league location finder above to find your nearest redtooth pub game.

The pub i used to play at gave you the option to buy in for £5 or play for free. Obv you could only win something if you paid.

Hi. Without going into serious detail, I am currently without the use of my car, and I am not really able to walk too much and three miles is a little bit out of my walking distance! Do I really need to apologise now due to the fact I have physical dis-advantages which limit the range I can walk? - Yes I could take the bus or a cab but with a limited bankroll until I am paid at the end of the week.....well less said the better.

Perhaps I shouldn't have even written my reply the way I did!

    Well folks,
After having a friend up from London (who sadly ended up having to run back to london after personal issues arose) I found myself with a free couple of hours which I put to use, especially as I now had my car back... (See importance of this in my previous post)

After visiting the website of Harlow Greyhounds/Harlow Hounds Social club, I discovered that thier poker night's run twice a week, Monday & Wednesday.

However, refused to even let a visitor play, insisting on becoming a member of the club - all the more they are reducing thier night's to once a week and with Policies like this, I don't think that they will last long at all - espcially as it would seem there was only two tables running.

Whilst in Town, I discovered that Rileys Snooker club run a poker night, and even better for people like myself, the evening's games are FREE to enter - I even met once of the people who regularly play who said to me

"Just be prepared for the fact that if you play regularly and run well - you MIGHT just find yourself heading to coventry on a little trip to play in the annual Riley's main event!"

Pity that I have a (Different) long-lost friend who is returning back to Harlow from University on Friday to play a one-off concert on the same night, and I've already made plans to go and support him - still something for me to do the following week me thinks!
