Fold or Call?

edited July 2014 in Sit & Go Strategy
Quite simple, early-mid stages of a DYM - fold or call?

Lorna987 Win   1512.00   1512.00
Lorna987 Return   1780.00 0.00 3292.00
I folded because Lorna987 had already called two raises, and went all-in on a third, therefore I sensed they were quite strong haha - seems like KK to me. Additionally, I did not want to risk my tournament life at that stage when I was already in a decent position.

100% fold but looks like you should be raising bigger pre in position vs 2 players. Ik its a DYM but if you are going to raise that big you arent getting 2 folds after the first call

    call

    From past experience

Your 3bet size is horrible. It's basically invting 2 callers in a hand that really does best getting HU. Much better to make it around 500 if you are going to 3-bet. No idea how you can possibly put someon on KK with this action? You're just randomly guessing what he could have. Just flatting the raise is also an option - depends on how wide people have been opening.

    As played folding seems best.

This hand is.a perfect example of why notes are essential in these games.
With this player, with this situation I would be pressing the correct button immediately.

I'm not sure I agree that the 3bet size is "horrible". At this level, you'd be very surprised how often people fold to a raise like that - but granted, it probably could and should have been higher. I always try put the opposition on a hand, and KK seemed like the most likely option given how they had been playing up to that point. QQ, JJ and AK were other possibilities.

    Thanks for your help :-)

This game was the first time I had been on their table, had no notes on them when we started :-)

I think as played you have to fold as you have no idea where you are.

I think putting them on KK is wrong though.  The guy has seen a raise and flats then sees a reraise and a call but flats again? 99/100 people would bet out knowing would get a customer and even if all fold its a decent pot anyway.  Your bet size is too small, does not give you any info,

I think that the villian is more likely hit a set or has gone nuts with A9.

So again as played have to fold, but imo just threw away some needless chips.

Depending on table and reads, 10's are a bit of a no set no bet hand in a dym at that stage with your chip stack.

It's funny, I posted this hand ages ago and looking back on it now, I can't understand why I thought he would be on KK. I'm guessing there were table dynamics at work that I have no forgotten about.

Thanks for the post, very helpful actually :-)
