Need inspiration #help

edited May 2014 in Poker Chat
Hi everyone

It's been a while writing on forum pages. The tale of the tape so far poker wise is this...

I feel like my game has plateaued a bit over the past few months with not much direction in what I play poker wise. I'm currently doing some reading on the mental side of playing but poker wise I feel like I want to dip my foot into everything.

A dym here, a cash game there and tournament also but I know there's not much consistency.

Can anyone suggest a challenge for me which I can partake in which

A) ups my BR
B) aids in improving game

I think it is important to decide which form of poker you enjoy most, then set yourself a challenge in that. If you specialise in one form of poker you will develop your game quicker.

For example, play 100 DYM's, or 100 MTT's or 100 hours of cash play - and see how much profit you make in that time. There is no better way to motivate yourself than by seeing your balance increase ;-)

    Hi Tah,

I'd strongly recommend stick to a single format during this period.

In terms of variance, MTT's are BY FAR the most volatile, & I'd put them bottom of the list for now.

Cash, or DYM's, are far lower variance, & if you are looking to build your bakroll, & have a bit of fun along the way, they are the best routes, imo.

    I get you.

Ummmmmm. I think you are my inspiration today. I'm gonna play 100 hours of cash games at 4nl. I've funnily enough been playing those as of late and a lot of reading which I'm doing involves that so I think that'll be it. Not doing to bad.

Thanks for that peter. I will be debuting that this sunday. I just need a focus.

Btw. Nice f1 page. Button a possible podium surprise??

    Thanks Tikay

I think your right. Sometimes tourneys can be a distraction but it's the fun (or sometimes the not so fun) thing of playing them. They sometimes unravel the hard work that I put in on the cash tables.

Thank you. My minds now made up!

Let us know how you get on! :-)

Hmmm, Button podium ... it's possible. McLaren are not too quick over one lap, but it seems their race pace is very good judging by today's practice sessions. On balance, I would say not quite, my prediction for Button would be 4th or 5th.
