Two hands from a 60p DYM to look at pls!

edited May 2014 in The Poker Clinic
Hand 2:- in the mid-stages of a DYM I am dealt AA's with my stack at 18 Bigs. 1x Raise in front makes it 2x the BB, and I called, again probably too weak on my part, not having learnt my lesson from recent times. Flop was 9k8, checked all around, and a 10 appears on the turn. 1x bet of just 100 follows and I go for the Juggular and shoved my stack in. I got a call an oppy turns over K-9. River is a 3 and my oppy win's with two pairs. Am I correct In thinking I should be doubling or tripleing the original raise pre-flop?

Two hands from 60p DYM's played on Sunday 11th.

Hand 1:- in the early stages, and had three players limp in to see a flop - I was in the BB and checked with A4o. I flopped a Str8 with the flop coming 523. I lead out the betting with a bet of effectively 7x's (150 chips with 90 in the middle pre-flop). Everyone else folds. My Q is, is my bet just TOO big here?

    hi gary,
first 1 a half pot bet would more likely be better post flop.remember u have the nuts,u want customers, dont scare them away with monster bets to early.

second hand..if it is your intentions to shove with the aa it is always better pre flop..u should have re raised 6bb it pre flop or shoved  ..any is ok ,u either be ahead if called or your opponent might fold.
u have made the right move and if he outdraws u it is out of your hands..
    gl gary enjoy!

    Hi Gary

1st post . Well first level and you are given a free look at a flop. Maybe you could tell its a 60 p dym there with 4 players. Considering there are four I would check as an overpair or AK (no one should be limping with I know but..) will probably bet out and you can rer. A call, maybe a fl draw or pocket pr, only needs to avoid board pairing and a heart. If it does you can close down but if not there's chips to be won I feel . The overbet scared them off unnecessarily I feel. Maybe half pot at best.

    2nd hand
You must 3 bet to 900. He then has a decision to make. It's ul to lose like that but you didn't test his hand strength.
PS like you did today When my 99 fell to your AA

Hand 1 - id check flop, then raise any bets. if it checks round i would bet big as you did on the turn

Hand 2 - All in pre flop, why make it hard for urself

Hand 1 i go along with Alex here.
Hand 2 is a jam pre flop.

I like the lead in the first hand. It's a limped pot so despite having multiple people in the hand, there is no guarantee anyone is gonna bet into us. Plus there are a couple of action killers that could come down on the turn if it's check round, and you'd be safe to assume that at least one of the other players has something that they will call a bet with, but unlikely to bet themselves.

I'd just look at the sizing personally, probs made it too much, would be my only 'criticism' in that hand.

I dont think you should ever overbet a pot unless you are jamming all in. your not giving any speculative hands chance to pay you off, and i dont think you would ever over bet a limped pot with a bluff or a draw so your range isnt balanced

I would be tempted to go for a check raise on all three streets, but partly because I think it's funny to do that.
