how can I get out of this poker rutt! advice please

edited May 2014 in Poker Chat
Been playing poker on various sites for a few years, started out as a complete fish, started working on my game, slowly started to win more frequently, increasing my roll and started buying into bigger mtts, I survived a few downswings and enjoyed a few heater periods where I felt like a god! But through it all I had a serious passion for game. I have a young family and also work nights, so playing for me is limited to weekends.
I dreamt of winning a wsop or ept sattelite, or even becoming professional( obv with a huge amount ofwork).
But recently I have just started to play like a real fish, I just can't get out of this rutt, I get 30mins inTo a tourney and get bored, pay no attention to how the rest of the table are playing, think I can win every pot, I have gone seriously laggy!
I try and get myself motivated by playing less tables and higher buyins but still I dint get that buzz, when u get that huge bluff through, or your up a couple of hundred.
Pretty much all I'm asking is has anybody else experienced this? Feel like you have become stagnant?
Sorry to be all depressive but I just want to feel that buzz again,

if i cant be bothered to grind i watch a few poker training videos, watching poker allways gets me right in the mood, currently on poker x factor site, very good content for mtts and very cheap for subsription, give it a try.

I agree. Training video's normally work for me to. If im honest, what also helped me is reading the Mental game of Poker in keeping the right mindset (quite hard on Cash tables at the minute).

Playing Tournaments, its good going to. Go back to basics and look at how you approach the early, mid and late stages of the MTT's you play. Make sure you analyse each hand you play and are making the best decisions in each hand. That way if you did spew some chips and lost a pot/lose you tournament life, you wont be to tilted from it.

The community is also a great help in establishing your rights from your wrong's

    GL bro.

over confidence can be deadly for your game----- tell me a bit more about yourself and I will give you a tirade of personal abuse that will dent your confidence enough to play properly,--- you flopwit flapheaded flupfaced flipper!

    hey boo,

at least you recognise what's wrong which is half the battle; most of us goe thru phases where we lack motivation & drive, the best cure for me has always been to take a break & hopefully you'll come back refreshed.

another motivator can be watching poker...i always find the live ept feeds & wsop ME shows really get my juices flowing, maybe tune into the ukpc shows that are on now,

    good luck!

    Hi Boo

Don't know from your post if you play live.

I find that if i'm having a bad run online,  Going to a casino and playing a low buy in tourny, one where the money isn't really an issue, and just having some fun and banter really gets my passion for the game going again

Hope you can get the passion back.

    All the best Jock
