Poker Karma

edited July 2009 in Poker Chat
Hi Guys, Do you believe in such a thing called ‘Poker Karma’?  I.e., what goes around comes around For example, I have busted out to pocket A’s, pocket K’s and sunk at the river many times. But, I have also done this to other people and won with the worst hand pre-flop. So, I have been unlucky at times and lucky at times. I feel the ‘Poker Karma’ has balanced out. In fact, my bank roll has balanced out; I am £0 in profit after thousands of hands. I am not proud of it, I’d rather be in profit, but it has made me realise recently that I can actually weigh up my wins against losses and this makes me a believer in Poker Karma. Do you agree in the lucky and unlucky always eventually balance or do you just believe that many gamblers just do not want to quit when they are ahead?

    Hi
I do believe in luck balancing out, a strange sureal thing happened to me about a year ago.

I was deep in a tournament and with the break 10 mins away and despearate for a pee, i mucked my hand and rushed off to the loo
Coming back in i could see from the doorway that the next hand had started and i had been dealt A A the action was coming round to me quickly
I rushed across the room and tripped on my trainers, falling forward onto my swivel chair i landed across the arms and went head first into the monitor and broke it.
I was a bit dazed but all i could think of was getting back to the tourney, i quickly grabbed my daughters monitor and got back on, carried on with the tourney as normal
When the break came i looked back at the hand history and the hand i had A A, to my horror i could see that another player had K K but reading down he had hit a king and the turn and won a big pot
    I would have been out
I finished 7th in the tourney and picked up $1600, that easily paid for a replacement monitor..
    Strange but true

I was at a casino once, deep in a tourney, I had ordered some drinks and they were on their way to the table. I looked down at AA, there was araise in front of me.  Next, a little old lady came to the table with a big tray full of drinks.
` was the stella yours love` she said to me. `yes` I said. She was at the other end of the table  and was struggling to get to me as the tables were all squashed together and there were a lot of ppl seated that were in her way.
Being the gentleman that I am, I stood up and stepped towards her leaning over a few players to get my drink from her. The dealer mucked my hand as I was not seated. I couldve chucked that pint all over the dealer.

So no, I dont believe in karma and from now on im gonna be a right selfish b**tard

    I agree 100%.

All luck evens out for everybody, over time.

Those who bemoan their bad luck have selective memories.

We all get the same amount of luck, but some handle adversity better than others. They are the winners in Poker, because they enjoy it, win or lose.

Nice Post Rich, it;s so nice to see that sort of Post instead of the usual "I'm so unlucky" stuff.

It's a state of mind thing, in poker, as in life. We can all be gung-ho when we are winning, but the character & spirit shows when things go wrong.

    You the man.

    Hi Gary

I have just read your post about Karma and the image of you dashing to the aces made me really laugh.

That is the funniest post i have read.  I actually believe that Karma works, as in life you only get out what you put in.

I play poker for fun and just feel sorry for the bad losers at the tables. Getting all upset over a poker game should be a signal to them to stop playing. Now i am not a good player a fact that many like to point out but i really enjoy my games. I love the deepstacks and mostly manage an hour or two in them. The regular players are mostly really nice and feel that they definately have Karma.

Hey even a few players that were abusive to me on a couple of occassions are really nice to me now. That my friend is Karma at work!!

This is actually good. It means that other people have paid for your rake and paid for your entertainment.
