you have lost that 9 times out of 10 because the flush draw has came on the turn, their are no real straight draws our their when your going by the expected calling range pre, finally the sets have already beaten you on the flop.

basically you do what so many others do. YOU DON'T THINK OF WHAT RANGE IS GOING TO CALL THAT BET IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I am with Craig on this one!

What he is saying is, and correct me if I am wrong Craig, that by shoving there you are only ever getting called in general by the flush draw or a set.

If your lucky enough to see the flush draw - they have 9 outs - 36%

90% of the time you make fold all the hands you are beating - maybe a looser player calls with KQ - maybe!  But as you have the AA makes the op holding AQ very unlikely.

You have to think about what the opponent is holding to call the raise pre - is a large (and correct) raise pre.  He has JJ or similar - instant fold.  Most times KQ, QJ, AK, all fold.

Yes KK would probably call - but only 6 ways of making that hand so again unlikely.

Ifyou had put in a bet of say 250-350 and got a call, then the K comes on turn - you know that now most hands that called you pre and on that board have probably got there.  The correct play on that turn imo would be check and call / fold depending on bet size.

So in conclusion - By shoving there you are at best flipping 90% of the time - yes you was unlucky at how turn and river turn ran for you - but as soon as someone calls you know your in trouble - AA is a great hand pre - but as above - do not forget what the opponent has!  AA is only a pair.  Far too many people loose their stack by being blinded by their own hands.

Hope you can relook at the way you played and understand :-)

    Run well

this is bbv guys not the poker clinic, i dont think bignoise asked for the hand to be analysed.

    What Rocky said.

But just to chuck in my 2cents worth, if Bignoise has villain on a range that can call this shove then he should absolutely do it. Not only does it make our hand look bluffy/weaker, it will often get paid off by people who can't let go of a top pair type hand. The fact he gets outdrawn is irrelevant; he got all his chips in as a big favourite and got unlucky.

I'd just be looking to bet flop and then shove 100% of turns.

Don't agree that only flush draws and sets call here, your standard player isn't folding Qx either.

No need to panic and go for the big overbet shove just because there's a flush draw out.

    -------------------------

The King on the river is a blank, might as well be an off-suit 2.

Does make it look more dramatic though :)
