Was folding correct?

edited July 2014 in Cash Strategy
This the right fold? The villian is active but 4x are usually a stronger range from them. I dont think I can ever check the flop even though it isnt the best and then I get a really bad turn and he bets very quickly.

Am I right in thinking that I am very rarely ahead here? Could I have played this any differently?

Yeah I think a sigh fold is the only option here.

If 4x means a bigger hand then I'd assume they have QQ / poss AQ or are doing their best to kill the hand now with any set.

I'm not sure there are players at this level that can put you on KK/AA from the 3bet pre and pull the trigger with a big bluff!

I check flop personally. Would bet flop if we didn't have Ah.

As played very easy fold ott.

Why would you check flop? Am I not in danger of giving free cards to the multitude of draws that are there? I can get value of a lot of top pair hands and draws.

Villains range is much stronger than yours on this flop. Your gonna have to give up so often on this texture that keeping a strong hand like AA with a heart protects your ranges. (Can elaborate on this if you want)

You don't have to be that worried about giving free cards. You have Ah so if the turn is a heart you can comfortably continue in the hand.

PS. Thought you were against a reg when I first read the HH. At 10nl against an unknown you may well be better off betting flop. Above points are still worth mentioning if you decide to move up stakes and come across better players.
