you might have the Ad but it doesn't mean he certain to not have a flush so the chances are you have now lost the high already, leaving you with just a split pot at best.
So as your now have only got a split pot at best, because you don't have the absolute nut lo it's just too great a risk calling it.
the only hi hands your beating is sets but the thing about sets is they are almost certain to be holding the nut lo because a flush and straight are way to highly possible for him to risk jamming sets without having a nut lo.

basically if he doesn't have a K or maybe Q high flush himself then it make him almost certain to be holding the A2 and has a small flush or a set.

but the thing we always knew on the flop was you are almost certain to be either already behind or splitting the pot, what you were never doing is winning it.

with hi lo your main target is to get the winning hi card. the winning lo hand's main use is for those who haven't quite gone ahead but have lots of outs possible so whilst still waiting for the winning hi, what they do know is they are likely to split the pot.

A tad unlucky in a way, Waller, but you could never scoop, so it's a clear fold.

    You had....

    Low - 2nd nut

High - Gawd knows, loads of full houses & every flush beats you, so nothing at all really
    .

Don't forget, we are trying to SCOOP.

Really, if we want to get the lot in, we need, assuming a Low is available...

    Nut - Nut

    Nut - 2nd nut

    2nd nut - nut.

The "bare ace" rarely works in PLO8 either. If someone has one end nutted (on that board, say A-2 for the low) they will put you in a world of hurt by betting betting betting, & we are left calling to get half back if we are lucky.

Once we get nut at one end, ideally the high (say, nut flush or nut boat) we can really pile the pressure on. Though if we are 3 way, it is vital to keep BOTH the others players in, as we are simply printing money, we get half, they chop the other half. Perfect. Beware of doing it with the nut low though, as we can so easily get quartered ourself, & usually do, as the nut low is much more achievable.

    Ah right cheers.

I'm dropping down to the £1 DYM level to learn........it's getting quite expensive trying to learn at the £3 level where most of the players seem quite competent!
