England no chance of going forward w/o change

edited August 2014 in The Football Corner
After seeing the line up with 2 of the big 4 playing in the Community Shield, it was pretty dissapointing to see only 2 English players in the starting 22. With Terry, lampard and Cole out of the picture for tiltle favourites Chelsea i can,t see them fielding many English players either.

After all the debate about how bad England were in the World Cup it didn,t take long for the transfer window to start bringing in a new wave of foreigners and before this changes i can,t ever see England winning another major championship anytime soon

Rant over

Enjoyed your rant mate but foreign players not the problem it is the English ones. Even those given a chance and who play against class opposition week in week out cant play when they don a white shirt. Unless of course the wrong ones in the wrong system are being selected.

We can blame the foreigners all we like its the English who are the problem.

Agree with Father V here.  Look at the 70's when there were hardly any foreiners in the top league.  The England team wasn't much kop then either

Foriegn players arent the problem, the get rich quick attitude of English players is a big bit of the problem.
If you look at the amount of players that have been talked of as possible future England Internationals, who have played a few games at mid sized clubs and grabbed a big money move only to sit on the bench and buy sports cars.
Rodwell, adam Johnson,Sinclair and moses to name a few.
Players see international football as a chore and are put under imense pressure by there clubs to dodge as many games as possible.
The first thing I would do is scrap all mid seasons international freindlies also Make the premier league clubs play under 21 teams in the league cup and finaly have a rule about the % of games played in a season to be selected
    for England.

    Agree with Badboy

Last World Cup - England players spent more time in TV adverts than playing !

Good point. Does anyone know if Harry Redknap has named the players who came to him about not wanting to play for England.
You could actually work it out roughly if you look at the Spurs -England players when he was there. I noticed Andros Townsend didn,t say to much about it when he the news broke and he was commentating on the World Cup at the time
